I'm about to get a Series Rover and I'm going to do all the restoration work myself to get it to good daily driving shape. Not perfect, but I want a good truck with everything working. Anyway, since I can paint the truck for free in whatever color I'd like I figured I'd take suggestions for what people think would look good. I think I wanna go with one of the newer rover colors (ie 97 era or newer). I like the solid Olive Green. What does everyone think is a good color? |

I think a dark green (Coniston green) with a white roof would look nice on a Series. FWIW |

I always liked sage green, like on RB Bailey's series 2a. Plus I think he can touch it up with rustoleum! Check out his link. A lighter color would be better for trails and scratches. |

Are sage green and coniston green both recent LR colors? |

Coniston green has been around a while. I've seen Defenders with the Coniston green with white roof. Looks sharp. White is great for scratches though. My Disco is Oslo Blue which when clean and in shade looks great but otherwise, you can see all the scratches in it when it's sunny. Epsom Green with white roof would look good too I think. Depends if you care about scratches or not. |

yea...I'll stay away from that Zebra look. I don't like white either. I think I'm leaning to what's called Coniston Olive Green. Metallic on older trucks doesn't look very good because they have spot welds that appear like faults when they have metallic paints. |

Ok, so I ended up bringing home the truck that was in the Royal Navy. It's in much better shape than I expected. The frame is solid as can be. Anyway, I think I'm just gunna repaint it these same colors. Whatcha think?

From a purist standpoint I would paint the truck the truck the same color as the Royal Navy/RAF series I trucks. It is a dark blue like that but much more luster. If you buy the book The Original Land Rover, you can see the color on the 107 and 86in station wagons. I think it would look quite nice. The regular hard top on that thing would look nice in ivory along with the roof sides, or if you must, retain the yellow. The contempory Arles Blue looks nice too, Oslo is close to what you have as well. Ron |

You can never go wrong with the "Daktari" look. Paint it like a zebra. |

Very cool! Congrats! Keep it the same color, possibly Ivory for the top. I dig the RH drive! That will be tough at McDonalds! -John |

Good looking truck, I hope you have a lot of fun... and time on your hands. Mine is pretty much done, but I will be working on the interrior for a while. Yes, mine is the rustoleum sage green, at least about 1/3 of the lower area is now. It matches the original green almost perfectly. If you paint panels, and not half panels you would never be able to tell the difference. The roof is a mix of about 1/4 canvas white, 3/4 gloss white. (all gloss actually) I like the blue angels look though, pretty unique. http://landrover.mrbaileyshistory.net http://flying.mrbaileyshistory.net
