Can I have anyone's advice on rovertym sliders. Have you been happy with them?, has anyone had a problem with them folding? What do you think of Rovertym in comparison to Safari Gard. Any advice is appreciated.

I have the RoverTyms sliders on my D1 and I am extremely satisfied.

I love the step on the rail and use it a lot to load stuff on the roof rack, etc. The rail also helps fend off trees and stumps that have a tendency to bang around down there.

The sliders are very well built. They have definately prevented lots of damage to my sills, etc. If I had to do it over again, I would go with the RoverTym sliders again.

I've only seen the SG sliders on a D2. The look good. The finish is nice. The seem strong to me, but I really did not get a chance to crawl under the vehicle to really check it out in detail. The people who had them seemed satisfied.

Thanks,
Mike B.

I have RT slider too. But, the sliders themselves are no stronger than the SG version.
You can easily get the SG version and put the backing plate on them and be better off.
They way i see, All sliders are same.
RT is highly overrated.

I don't agree that RTE is highly overrated...if service is worth anything to you. I mounted a set of HD sliders from RTE without the outrigger. I am very pleased. The install was simple and removal and refitting after cleaning is a snap.

I like the "one off" approach John applies in his work and he seems eager to offer a super high quality product and stand behind it.

While I suppose metal is metal, and sill mounted sliders share the same pros and cons, I don't think you can go wrong with RTE.

My $0.02 worth,

I put the RTE HD sliders on my D2 and I have been very pleased. Echo the comments above on strength, durability and ergonomics. I had some minor surface rust in a couple of spots, but that was easily fixed. I've had 'em in some mud pretty deep and they were easy to clean and I've accidentally banged them on a couple of stumps without issue. I don't like the fact that the front 8" or so is essentially hanging out there, but I think all sill mounted sliders mount that way. It seems that any sill mounted slider that mounts with the through bolts in the sill is gonna give good protection.

Yesterday, my RTE sliders worked as advertised, protecting the underneath, but more importantly, saving the doors from mud banks and roots. While the RTE sliders are not without faults, I would not even consider SG--they look too flimsy in comparison.
