Well I took my discovery back to the guy who rebuild my engine and he got it started. A problem he came across is that it will start fine when he first starts it but when it warms up and he turns it off it won't start back. He thinks it has something to do with the emissions but not sure. Do I need to replace any sensors. The fuel pressure read about 34-35 psi but that was before it started. The only sensor I replace was the fuel temp located on the fuel rail. Need help so I start driving it around.

I don't think the check engine light is on.

Back to the basics. You gots to have spark, fuel, compression. You either don't have one of them, or enough of them, or they aren't happening at the right time.

The fact that it starts and then won't kind of makes me think it's a fuel delivery issue.

OK, I re-read the initial post. Start looking to things that can heat up and not act right, like ignition amplifier (not sure what year your truck is, nor if it is NADA), might be coolant temp sensor too.

yes. ignition amplifier is very suspect with this symptom.

you need to go thru all the tests with a land rover manual it only takes a few hours.

My 95 did the same thing. Ran fine cold, but once warm it would run really poorly and then stall. The fuel pump was the problem, it had low pressure at start, then after the truck ran till warm the fuel pressure would drop even lower and starve the engine. Check your pressure at start then when warm and see if there is a difference. I tried everything before the fuel pump, as I was convinced that it wasn't bad. I did fuel temp sensor, ETCS, plugs, cap, rotor, coil, checked ignition amp, swore and kicked the truck but nothing fixed it. When I had the pump replaced I had the injectors bench tested and cleaned, flushed the fuel lines and new filter. But the cause of my problems was a fuel pump that wasn't quite dead but failing just enough let the truck run but not enough to keep it running. Also don't think you emission system is causing the problem, if a sensor is bad it would throw a code. Cleaning breather lines wouldn't hurt though. Have you checked the wiring to the fuel pump? A bad ground could cause poor pump performance.

The guy that got my 95 discovery started said that the distributor had move 180 degrees, also the weights at the bottom of the distributor one side was burnt. After he fix the distributor he tried to start it but flooded it he took the plugs out and let it set over night to dry out and the next day it started. The ignition amplifier on mind was located next to the coil instead of the distributor. I relocated coil and put it on the air filter box could the amplifier be collecting to much heat but it never gave any problems before all this happen. Just to be sure I change it out lucky I have a extra one. With the coolant temp sensor and fuel pump can I get those at the local parts store and how much are they. Where is the coolant temp sensor located.

I got mine at www.roverconnection.com , they aren't very expensive, like $27 each? Hmmm .. check your coil output hot and cold. Try new plug too, if they are really carbon fouled from running rich, that could be an issue. You could always clean them, but NGK-r's will run you like $30 for 8. You could go cheaper, but I like the ngk's.
