aside from having a leak in my exhaust, it emits a terrible smell... it also makes a clacking noise... how and where do i get these gasket / manifold things? not the best with cars... is this expensive?

There are some on ebay right now. You can put them on your self if you are good at working on things.

Damien:
I have recently seen a rash of trucks brought to me that are missing manifold to y-pipe nuts!

There are two places where they begin to leak, at the head to manifold mating surface (fairly rare in my experience) and at the manifold to Y-pipe mating surface (very common in my experience).

Obviously, they take different gaskets. It is far easier to replace the manifold to Y-pipe gaskets. The head to manifold gasket is more difficult as the manifolds never seem to line up just right and I end up having to move things around to get them to line up.

Look around to see if you can see which one is leaking so you can get the correct gaskets. If you need new nuts for the flanges, the thread and pitch is 8m/m *1.25.

Peace,
Paul

Yes, you can do it yourself.

They seal the minute gaps between two surfaces that are bolted together.

It seems like an easy straight forward task. It isnt! The problem is the bolts break and alignment problems. Good Luck

I had the same problem on mine and I found two problems, first the Y-pipes were a bit loose so I thighten them, pretty simple task, get under the car and fit a socket and tighten those bolts together, check for missing bolts also, replaced them if nessesary. The other problem is that I had a small hole on one of my exhaust which caused this horrible Sulfur smell to seep into the cabin. I got some muffler goop and repaired the whole
