Ok... We need some new carpet and tile for the house, among other house-hold items. We have been saving the money not buying too much to cover the excess cost.

Well today, I was trying to get some parts for my Disco to repair a few things. Some how, it got out of hand and I just spent about 1k on various little parts. :-(

- OME HD Springs
- OME Shocks
- OME Dampner
- New antenna
- New rear seat backing for rear seats
- Cargo door actuator
- Owners Manual
- Two new rear bumper end caps & mounting brackets
- Center console shifter outer bracket

$997.00 later, and a beating from my wife I think my new truck hobby is coming along. :-)

Nice Mike! I know how it feels, my wife and I are supposedly saving for a house, yet, in the last 2 weeks I have bought the OME HD springs/shocks and dampner plus a TJM bumper! I dont even want to add it all up! :-)

Chris-

Cool! What size tires are you planning on running? I was going to pick up some BFG MT KM's @ 235/85/16 series.

I understand I need to 'lightly' trim the rear metal a tad.

Let me know.

Hey Mike,

Sadly I bought new BFG AT's (245/70/16) about a year ago, so I will probably hold off for a bit. You do have to trim the back. IIRC, there is a good thread on the tech section about trimming, adj wheelstops, etc when you put on 235/85's. I'm not sure what I will upgrade to, perhaps 245/75's or what you are thinking about. Please let me know how it goes with the 235/85's. Good luck!

Chris Sharpe:

I will keep you informed on how it goes. Hopefully the trimming isn't too bad, and adjusting the wheelstops goes smooth too. I was recomended the 235/85/16 with the lift, which mates nicely. If you have any pictures of your 245/70/16, post them up!

Also, what are your plans to adjust the gearing / speedo / etc?

Chris Marcel:

Thanks for the link. I would also like to see some pictures of your 235/70's on a 2.5-3" lift. I am curious on how itty-bitty those wheels/tires look.

Mike,

You don't have to trim to fit the 235/85 R16

You can just fit a small bracket to push the rear panel out. Look in the Tech section for Rear Fender Relocation by Hank. Works great.

Oh yeah, in my experience you can't put 235/85/16 tires on a Disco without trimming-IF-you ever intend to go wheeling. My tires hit the front of the wheel well, right by the rear doors, both sides. And, this is with the sway bars still attached. The rear corners are trimmed and no longer chew up the tires.

Add some articulation and you've got tire and body damage.

Tevor-

I reviewed the tech which you recomended. In that, basically a special Z backet is made so it pushed the rear fender OUT past the tire?

Also, what springs / shocks do you have on the vehicle? Sway bars?

I ordered the OME HD kit. I hear conflicting info on 'yes it will fit with a Z bracket' and 'no it won't without trimming'.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Mike
