Yeah, took me about 3 months to get this set up. Best thing about it....when all that pea gravel goes down in your ass crack you when you slip off the tarp. :)

If you have cable, watch The Learning Channel (TLC) tonight at 9 pm (4/7/02). They are re-running there extreme garage series. Its enough to make the common man sick, but they are some beautiful garages...

JMcD,

Man, that is one clean garage! Only one problem though...where are all of the tools? Should we just assume that the compressor is outside with plumbing to the inside? Jackstands, hydraulic lift, ramps? Ya can't just get by with some nice toolboxes :)

I'm just giving you grief. Seriously, no one but me can find anything in my garage. I'll post pics later. It is truly a collage of tools. It is organized though....to me at least :)

Now that you mention it, that coil of hose next to the not so manly weight bench is where the air line comes in to the garage, see the air gauge? I put the compressor in a shed about 15 feet out that door cause the damn thing is so loud it will wake the dead. I plumbed the 220 and air lines and buried 'em under ground.

The jacks(2 of em, 3ton) and stands are in that stainless cabinet, as is the millermatic welder and oxy/cetylyn tanks. The rest of the crap I don't use often is in the shed.

I tried to put a lift in but my wife nixed that idea real quick. Something about "Maybe you should put a bed out there 'cause you might need it if I find a lift in here"

I tried to get that garage set up for as long as I can remember, now if I can just figure out what to do with that ratchet thingy and all those socket doodads. Someday. JMcD

Bill, yes that was a pic of Adrian's RR....so his RR is not a virgin anymore, huh?

Robbie, that garage is twice as big as my house...6 times bigger than an apartment I had in the Queens, NY...damn that's big!!!

JMcD,

Your garage has got it goin' on then!

I get the SS cart now. That is your "welding table". Very slick. Very slick indeed. How in the hell you you fit your welding stuff in that SS cart I will never know.

I am truly impressed. We are about to buy a new house which will mean the reconfiguring of my garage. I am going to try to use your neat and clean garage as a model. I have been thinking that about 75% of the stuff I have gets 10% use and just sits around the rest of the time. There is a big Tuff Shed in the back yard. I will be using it.

Did you do the sheetrock or was that already in place? What about heating and cooling? Thanks for the pics. Again, great example.

Curtis, thank you for the nice words, The Cabinet holds the welder and oxy/Cetyln tanks but they are not that big. The miller welder(175) is no bigger than a small suitcase and I have the short tanks so they fit in brackets in the back. Just pull the hoses out and open the valves. I used to have the larger tanks but I really don't cut/weld that often so I got the smaller ones to save space. The power cords come out the back and there is a power strip there for grinder/drill/whatever. Works real nice, just roll the cabinet around with everything in it.

I did the drywall myself with some help from my brother, there are 14 'highhat' lights in the ceiling and I still wish I had more. I had to put a new electrical subpanel in the there for the air compressor and welder. The welder is only 110v but it needs a 30 amp fuse, the compressor is 220.

The heater is a Rinai electronic gas unit(that box under the window) that plugs into 110v. It has a cool touchpad and can be programmed for any temp for a week. Cooling? I live in New Hampshire. Still have snow on the ground(april 16)

Definately go with a shed or some outside storage, keeps the kids bikes and extra junk out of the way. I would STRONGLY advise if possible putting the air compressor in a seperate county or at least outside of the garage. Way too loud!

The only thing I wish I had done differently was more lights, you can never have too much light, and of course I should have put my computer out there so I can cruise the almighty discoweb while wrenching on the Rover!!

Thanks again for the props. JMcD
