Just bought a new 98 Disco. This site has been a tremendous reservoir of info, thanks ya'll. However my new baby has got some challenges: a) rear taillight, dash light glove light prob described in another thread, still unresolved b) maintenance manual says major exhaust service at 85,500--just reached the mark, should I go to a dealer or a local mechanic--got one I know who does good work on foriegn cars. c) door latches sticky--lithium grease I imagine? Furthermore, passenger front door does not always unlock with power lock. Is this just a fluky thing to live with or is there a simple fix. d) no cd player, anyone got any ideas for a good replacement head unit. Thinking maybe a minidisc deck. e) no remote key access. wondering what prohibitive costs might be involved in getting one from the dealer. Is it as simple as going and buying a remote, or is extensive wiring necessary. f) dome rust, nothing devastating but I do live on the ocean which is pretty harsh on my vehicles, my f150 turned to dust in a matter of months. Thinking of Line-X'ing vulnerable areas (i.e. tailight areas, wheel wells, etc...anyone done this before, have any info? Thanks a lot Matt |

not 100% on your other thread regarding dash lights and glove box, but my glove box light kept shorting out against the metal housing whenever I shut it. Once I superglued the metal housing in place, it solved the problem for good.. My dash lights would go out, becuase sometimes it would blow a bulb in the brake lights. Since supergluing bulb housing its all good. |

Instructions on how to clear the RED "Service Engine" light (emissions reminder) can be found in the Tech section of this site |

I have a 1998 LSE and bought it two years ago and love it. I too have similar problems as well. It's the dash lights, tail lights, etc.. Let me know what you come up with. I would like to have my ducks in a row when I bring it to my mechanic. All the fuses are working, but the wiring behind the fuses seem to be dead. Go figure.
