I have a 98 D1. I took it to the dealership to get the transfer case looked at because something is lose inside. The warranty company assumes everything is wear and tear which is not covered. You basically have to wait until it breaks down and leaves you stranded before they will fix it. BEFORE that they ask when was the last time that part was serviced. It's a used truck, I don't know what the previous owners did. |

Heritage is the name of my warranty company. Good idea. I should drive it around empty then refill it. They would probably say this is wear and tear. Be careful in buying aftermarket warranties. |

I had a similar bad experience with an aftermarket warranty. This was one of those deals where they send you an aditive to put in your engine and transmission and then they'll warranty both for an additional 100k miles. Well, about 30k later the transmission went. They wouldn't commit to whether or not they would fix it until it was torn down and diagnosed. After it was torn down they decided they weren't going to cover it because I had not changed my engine oil often enough (mobile 1 every 5k). I would have conceeded their point if they had given me a problem on an engine rebuild as it did state in the fine print every 3k miles, but on a transmission problem it was just rediculous. I argued with them for weeks, finally had to threaten to take them to small claims when they basically asked what it take to get me to go away. We settled on $1000, which was half what they would have paid and coincidentally what the warranty had cost. I guess I was lucky to get anything out of them. I certainly learned a lesson. When we bought our '99 DI we got the full LR certified extended warranty and have had no problems with the several claims we have made to date. Rob |

I'm considering getting a refund on the warranty since I believe they are never going to pay anything for repairs. |
