This shouldn't be anything too major. I failed to summit a slippery climb with some good holes in it and as I slid backwards my tail pipe dug in and bent down. I didn't pinch off, just got a little plugged. Once I had winched clear I fired it up and gave it some revs to push the mud out. done. Now it's hanging a little low. Anything special about bending it back? Should I do it while it is hot? Any special method? thanks and happy trails. |

you mean cut the bent section out and reconnect it? that seams like it would require sleeving and welding and whatnot. We're just talking about a 30-40 degree bend downwards near the hanger. |

Chop off the muffler and replace with straight pipe. You wont notice the difference |

i dont know how it works over there in the usa.. but here in oz i went out one weekend and "accidently" tore a hole in my main muffler. so we just replaced it with a Turbo muffler. sounds better but no catty...i had an agreement with my missus.. only allowed to replace the muffler IF it got broken..hahah..i wanted the damn thing to sound like a v8. i would recommend that you dont take the muffler off and run a straight pipe. cause she will be damn noisy... |

straight pipe may be an eventuality, but for now the muffler is in tip top shape. the pipe is just bent a little at the hanger. I just want to know if I should heat up the bend with a torch or anything like that just to straighten it |

Keep in mind we are talking about the REAR muffler. Not the main muffler. I cut my rear muffler OFF. The little Dainty one in front of the rear bumper. I cut it off and it was a bit loud. So I put in a straight pipe but id didn't quite clear the rear bumper so I melted my Taillight in the bumper with hot exhaust Gasses. Oops. So I went to a muffler shop and Paid $10.88 including Tax to have them weld on a nice tip that angles down a bit but is totally hidded up inside and a couple inches forward of the rear bumper so it wont hang up on anything. The bottom is amost flush with the rear bumper in height. No it sounds same as stock on the road but from outside or with the windows down I do hear a bit more exhaust noise and it has a nice sound at Idle now. I'll be keeping an eye out at my Buddies shop for a nice 2.5" Straight through for the Main Muffler section to make it sound REALLY Nice. Verdict, Cut the REAR Muffer OFF. But replace with pipe and a little tip to angle the sound and Exhaust Gasses Downwards. L8r Todd |

It's a resonator...not a "rear muffler".
