I am looking for a set of Rock Sliders for my 98 Disco but am a little overwhelmed by how many choices there are out there. DAP, Rockware, Safari Guard, and prices seem to be anywhere from $220(DAP) - $540 (Safari Guard) Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Another option is www.rovertym.com. He's at the upper end of the price range you gave, but his stuff is solid. There are a few people that have raised concern about a risk of "levering" with the sliders that have the little side steps, but those "nerf bars" are optional.

Rovertym. The RTE sliders are $550 without nerf bars and $625 with them. As Lawrence mentions above, some people have concerns that the nerf bars may cause levering into the doors on some trails. I went through a huge debate on whether to get the nerf bars or not, and ended up with them.

If you happen to be in the Los Angeles area, Expedition Exchange has the Dreadnought sliders which look solid and well thought out. The Dreadnought sliders are $700, but unfortunately you would have to be in the LA area to pick them up. http://www.expeditionexchange.com/dreadnought/

I seem to remember that you are in the central NJ area. If you'd like to see the Rovertym sliders on my D2, we can setup a place to meet.

I just put some Rovertym sliders on, very heavy duty, and very well made, defintely worth the money. I am vertically challenged so I like to use the nerf step to get to the roof rack.

I bought a set of sliders from Red rock rovers, they are similiar to the dreadnoughts and run about $450 for a d1. There website isn't up yet, give Marc Olivares a email at; olivares@xmission.com and he can get you more information. They are really pretty stout and have a great build quality. The cheaper the slider, the more you risk. I have read bad things about those DAP's. Going with the red rocks, the rte's or the EE's dreadnoughts will give you real protection.

I tried to talk Ho and John into shipping me some EE sliders, but after no luck, I bought a set of Trek Outfitters. They are very well made, installed and fit very nicely and work great. I came down HARD on the right side twice last weekend and hardly put a nick in the paint. In fact, I came down so hard, that my inertia switch tripped and the hazards came on!! Very happy the T.O., not the cheapest, but worth it!! My .02...

If you are in the LA area, the EE sliders is a good choice. For us who arent, I would go with Rovertym. I just mounted a new set of Rovertym sliders (without the nerfbars) before the Moab trip. John has a new model with additional mounting points, I took some pics when I installed mine, and will be doing a writeup soon.

Here's a custom set made from 2mm stainless steel. Each slider is hollow and can carry 10 litres/2 gallons of either oil, water or beer.

Welded so that the metal bent perfectly to match the contour of the body.

Near the end of the slider and welded into it (near the door), there are two sockets; when one is connected to the air compressor and the other to a screw in tube the liquid can be extracted.

Roland: Carrying beer in your sliders makes it that much worse when you land on them -- the possibility of spilling beer!! P.S. doesn't the beer get skunked or are you drinking the warm stuff?

The beer thing was just an after thought, wine would work! Not a bad idea, cause over here in Oz they seach your vehicle for grog before they allow you admittance to some car races.
BTW, if all I had was warm beer I guess I'd drink it..........through clentched teeth! LOL

Anybody have any opinions on the Terrain Master sliders?

They look good and according to the AB catalog, you can use them as a jacking point. $600 in the AB catalog, so I'm sure they can be bought elsewhere for less $$$.

Thanks,

Norm
