I am going to be getting a new 2003 disco II and want to put the OME springs and shocks for the 3" lift. I also want to put 16" rims and BF Goodrich 265/75 Mud-Terrain KM's.

Does anyone know what the final height of this setup is? I can't seem to find it anywhere. The reason I ask is that I park in a garage that has only 7' of clearance.

Thanks for any help,
Jamil

Invest in an air compressor and deflate the tires before entering, inflate after pulling out :-)

...awesome pics on your website too

2003 is IIa, but has the same specs as a 99-02 as far as dimensions go. Thanks for your comments on my photos.

Jamil, Do the math:

Stock vehicle height = 76.4"
Lift 3"
stock tires = 29"
BFG KM 265/75/16 = 31.9"

Height from tires = (31.9" - 29") / 2 = 1.45"

Total = 76.4 + 3 + 1.45 = 80.85" < 84" should be okay but going to be a tight fit.

I think the 2003 Disco is 6'4" (not including roof rails) with stock tires (255/55/18). Just add 3" to it, adjust for tires and you should have a good idea if it will fit through a 7' door or not. I'm guessing you'll be pretty close to rubbing the roof rails.

Just curious but why the big lift? Are you going to take a brand new 2003 Disco to places you're going to need a 3" lift and mud tires??

Jamil,

I think you will be cutting it close, though it may be possible. My '03 Discovery is about 76 inches (6'4") in height. This is the SE model with 18" tires. If we assume the OME springs and shocks give you a 3" lift, you are looking at roughly 6'7". Add some wiggle room for height depending on the weight of your car (full gas tank, passengers, cargo, etc.) and you approach the 7' mark.

PS/ Nice photography on your website.

Either that or keep every possible spare part combo in the back of the car...

The first few days I parked the Disco in the garage at work (6'10" clearance), I was scared to death. I would look up through the sunroofs every couple of turns to make sure the clearance hadn't changed significantly. I wasn't sure if the clearance measurements included low-hung lights or signs too!

Thanks for all the responses. And thanks Alan for the math. I'm not sure I NEED the 3" lift, but if I am going to do it, I thought why not just go all the way. I definitley want a new bumper and winch so I have to do some spring changes. I've only offroaded in stock Discos, and cut it close many times.

This will be my only vehicle. Will the lift make it impractical for every day driving? Most of what I have read say it is just fine.

Just double check that there aren't any negative affects to ACE and ETS with a 3" lift.

Eugene - I know what you mean about covered parking lots. I get freaked out too. Now I just don't park in covered parking lots anymore unless it's like the Bat Cave or something.

Also remember when cornering the vehicle tends to lean towards the outside of a turn therefore making the vehicle taller on the inside side of the turn. Can someone word that better for me?

No need to reword...I understand what you mean.
And Thanks Ken, fist hand reassurance that it will fit.

i have an 01 DII with the adventure rack...i have made 84" my holy grail as far as height goes...so with my additional rack height...and with 265/75-16's...and the ome hd lift from ee...i should be at 83 and 1/2 inches. since the rack adds quite a bit of tall...for you, i am suprised that others are saying that 6'7" is getting close! hell that is 5 inches to spare! that is a WORLD of room as far as i am concerned!

btw...legal disclaimer! i have heavily modified my lrna adventure rack...so the 83.5 is with some work!

Jamil, I own '03 with 265/75r16 BFG MUD KM's on it with no lift, slight rub but not bad. Try the tires first then the lift it might save you an inch or three.
