Well, it's been a while since I've posted, but I have a bit of an emergency. I am unable to shift from park. I have no brake lights, but the fuses and bulbs look good. I cannot leave my truck where it is overnight. Bad neighborhood... Thanks in advance, Daniel |

Is this a D1 or D2? If you've verified that the fuse is good, check the brake light switch. It is on the brake pedal and has four wires on it. -ema |

Eugene It's a D1. What am I checking on the brake switch? Is there a way to fix it or do I have to replace it. Also, the other day I left the sunroofs open in the rain. One fuse was burnt, (rear windows) but no other immediate damage. However, it's been a few days. I don't think it relates to that. Thanks, -D |

I've loooked at the switch. It's properly connected. Should I try to remove it and clean it? -Daniel |

I think it is the switch. I had exactley the same problem. Switch is about $30.00 If you do a search on Discoweb there was discussion in the thread as to how to bypass this to get you home. TrevorH |

Just do a search. I posted how to wire your rear fog lights to the brake circuit fuse to get you home. just need a 2 foot piece of wire and a 2 inch piece of wire. |

Is it an automatic? If so...pop the cap off the gear shift lever and you'll see a spring mechinisum with a keeper that popped off, relpace it and your good to go...good luck |

AMR 2011 brake light switch, Jumper the two wires on the left and you will have brake lights and be able to shift. Pull the collar out of the switch around the plunger, depress tabs, remove switch. Reverse to reinstall. Don't bother trying to clean the contacts. First off, just trying to reassemble will make you nuts, secondly, it will only buy you a few weeks of time before it goes again. I've had to replace many of them and I just break the old ones out and pop the new one in. On a Disco, it takes all of 20 minutes if you don't know how, abouut 45 minutes for a Rangie. |

Daniel: In the future, buy your parts from Discount Rovers 1-502-8rovers. You would not have paid $40 for the part. Their prices are similarly modest for other parts. Peace, Paul
