I just got my larger tires on and was wondering what air pressure others our running on the road with. They came out of the tire shop at 35lbs, just not sure if this is correct for this size of tire on a 97 disco.

I am running 44 back and 42 front with Yokohama Geolandar AT+ II, its what they recommended... when i first put them on it was at like 55 all the way around and it was a rock.

Same 235/85/16 Yokohama Geolander AT + II, I run 58-60 lbs on the road and 30 offroad. 28K miles on them, and couldn't complain.

235/85/16 Trxus MT 40 psi all around, tried 50 too harsh for me, I would experiment with different pressures and settle on one you like, every brand of tire is different, and it also depends on how harsh a ride you like.

Thanks for the info, I'm running Dunlop Mud Rovers, the ride is pretty smooth where its at, just not sure what the best pressure should be. I'll keep an eye on the tires to make sure they are not wearing unevenly.

Thanks again,
Greg-

Hiya Carter, Yeah, I got freaky weird looks from the folks out on the Black bear pass a couple of years ago, when someone asked me what I was airing down to and I said, "I'll air down to 50 since this isn't a muddy trail!" The guy said "50!" So I said "OK, I'll go to 45" I checked the pressure again today and yep, they're all at 55 at the moment. I can't say enough about the Yokohama's I love them!. I think when I need to get another set I might look into something a wee bit wider than the 235/85/16 without sacrificing the height. What is there? Is there a 245/85/16? I guess I'll check and see what the width of these are compared with the width of the ones I have on now.

I agree with Ozzie, the high pressure sure makes the tires last longer on road. However, I personally would run much less off road. Like 20-25, especially if you are running an AT since they tend to send chunks flying. MTs can handle higher pressures a bit better. If you run in the 20-25 (or even less) range, check them occasionally (look at them or check pressure). Sometimes air can squeeze out and sometime when wheeling the temp will drop and reduce pressure. This is common since many times you air down after getting off pavement.

50 front 55 rear on road

35 all around off road, i would go with 55 but my POS ranchoes couldn't handle it so i had to air down.

I too run 55 fronts 60 rears on road. Off-road I usually air down to about 30 to 25 psi, depending on terrain. I used to run 35 psi all around on or off, then I remember seeing a discussion about this in the past and I think it was Chris Von C that said he was running 60psi. I gave it a shot and I have come to like the ride better.
