I currently own a DI V8 and am interested in a TD5 in a few years time. I have recently heard accounts of oil pump failure on these units at around 60k kms (40k miles). The failure reportedly not only results in oil pump problems, but more importantly, damage to the crankcase and severe problems (financial). Can anybody shed some light on this , or is it (hopefully) another urban myth?

Graeme

You may want to try Graeme Cooper Automotive in Sydney - http://www.lrexpert.com.au/main.php - they are independant LR specialists who don't mind calling a spade a spade. Speak to Ward Freeland, he's a wealth of info.

I'm only up to 17k with my Td5 and have had no problems so far. They are a great wagon.

see ya
