My girlfriend and I are going to be in Oregon in mid-June. We have a few days between obligations and were considering driving to Vancouver from Portland. Any suggestions of things to do or see?

Trevor, if you're going to Vancouver, go check out Stanley Park (nice place to go for a run in the morning if you're into that kind of thing), Robson Street, go out to the island if you have time and check out some of the whale watching tours. There's also the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science center. The Whistler Ski resort isn't too far out of they city and they probably still have skiing available but if not, there's a lot of cool trails to hike around there.

If you want to know more, this link should help.

Hope you enjoy your visit. It's a beautiful place to see. Also, if you're interested, there's a fellow out there (http://www.pacificcustomlandrovers.com/) that does Land Rover restorations, mostly Defenders and Series. Very nice fellow. He brings in a lot of D110s if you're interested in those.

If you want, a short 30 - 40 minute drive to an area that you can spend a lifetime exploring near Portland, go east into the Columbia River Gorge - it is worth the trip. Take the scenic route up on the old highway - MANY MANY waterfalls, hikes through the rain forest, some trail driving, and lots of other stuff.

Freemont Street and the Red Hook Brewery in Seattle. Bridgeport Ale House in Portland. If you go up the Gorge as R.B. suggest stop at the Full Sail Brewery.

If you can squueze into the wilds of Idaho, check out the back roads that go into the snake river canyon. awesome drive!!
I accessed this area from a place called Cottonwood Idaho, and into the Salmon river areas.
huge drops (got to be 1000 feet in places) off the side of the road, shame it was foggy and rainy!! Delorme maps don't do it justice. Nothing technical, just back woods and scenic, and dirty. there are some pics on my gallery. def. want to go back one day and explore some more. the "wildest road in america" is in this region as well, can't remember the start point right now..., it wasn't available last May. the ranger laughed at me...
oh yeah, got to go back there one day.
Squamish BC has some scenic drives, maybe someone in the roverlanders can help, I went up there with some G wagens...

Hmmmm......

I agree, Columbia River Gorge is a nice drive....

Mt. St. Helens is something to see.

Mt. Rainier is one of my favorite places, up at Paradise.

Hoh Rain Forest on the Olympic Penninsula is very neat, too.

FWIW....
