I want to build simple website with like a few pictures and mostly links to hotels and attarctions for my wedding comming up.

I found a web site name that is not taken, but I am an utter retard when it comes to web based stuff. I have no clue.

anyone have some insight for me?

I figure, i need to register for the name rite? Host the name? then build the site?

I figure, rather than annoy our gracious hosts, someone had to be a frigin guru on this board

much appreciated

Joshua

Here is a cheap approach:

Go to: http://www.directnic.com and register the name for $15. That includes one year of free hosting with thier little banner on it. For another $15, you avoid the banner. Then, just build and put your HTML up there. You can use your browser to "view source" on a page you want your stuff to look like, then just copy that. The photo gallery is actually a good place to start, since it is simple pages with text and links. With IE, right-click on a gallery page and select view source. Save that file to your drive and modify it from there.

Or, do you have an ISP that you pay to get on the internet? I bet you get some free hosting space included. It won't be the "dot com" you want, but it will be something you don't have to pay extra for.

Joshua,

just make a Word document with all the photos, and save it as a webpage. It worked really ugly in Office 97, by far better with XP.

Joshua,
Go to www.freeservers.com and you can have your website hosted for free. It's not the best but it's free and you can make changes if you need to. I used it for the website I made for my wedding and it did just fine. If you need help with building your site, that's what I do for a living, right now, and I'd be more than happy to help you out. Just let me know.

Office for the web is a pain, lots of goblely-goop in there. Try something like Eversoft 1st Page for a free, fully loaded editor. If you wanna spend a little dough, there's Dreamweaver....

If you want a "skeleton" of just very basic HTML with some links, pics and such, send me a note, I'll send you my source.
