I've got a 96 D1. The check engine light always comes on at just about the same spot on my way home from work everyday. It's on sometimes and sometimes not. One thought I had is the gas cap or some other kind of fuel leak because I can smell gas outside the truck. Any other ideas besides a code reader? I just want to know if there's something simple I can check before I get too involved with it. |

Sounds fishy... Usually the light will not go off unless the problem is gone. It could be a pressure problem with the gas line, but don't listen to me - I don't know anything. |

You may be onto something, though. Whenever I fill the gas tank, sometimes pressure comes out when I take off the cap and sometimes it doesn't. I do believe it's correlated to the light being on, but I'm not positive as I just thought about it today. |

It can be the gas tank or a O2 sensor. Go to a mechanic that can access the codes, that should help. |

Just don't drive that way home. Go to Autozone they will read it for free. |

Help with a 0300 code... random misfires. What could be the causes? oxy sens? If it is the oxy sens, which one?all four? Also, could the sensors have been damaged by a sticking valve causing gas to dump into exhaust? What else? Thanks for any help, Don |
