I was talking to a Rover specialist the other day. He mentioned that they were starting to see in their mech workshop some discos with leaking transfer case front seals. The problem is, apparantly, that the shaft and bearing are steel the case is alloy. He said that the case gets flogged out over time and new seals eventually make no long term difference - ie it leaks even after a new seal is put in. They are now getting the box out, machining a larger hole and putting in a steel sleve. All turning parts are then steel to steel - problem solved apparantly. So there you go, anyone interested or heard of this? |

LT230SE? I'm gonna check this out. We got a 99 SE sitting here (48K, never leaked) and an older 230 out of a D90 (MY97) to compare with. |
