Scott

Just been up to Frazer over easter/anzac day - had a great time dispite the shithouse weather. Those sand tracks were alot of fun with 4 days of rain on them.

Todd

been dying to get over that way to do a surfing trip, looks like I'll be doing alot more than surfing when we finally make the trek over. let me know how you rate the Cooper's, a mate here has the STT's and rates them pretty high. But he's also the local ARB guy so he might just be pushing them. Just wouldn't mind an unbias opinion.

Post a pic with the new set-up

Hi Todd,

I'm in Perth. I've been considering the same setup you've just gone with for my (still stock) 98 TDi. A few questions for you - how do you like the Cooper ST's? How much did you pay for them? Did you get new gearing as well with the 235/85's? What lift did you go with? Whereabouts do you live and wheel (I'm always looking for places to go)?

BTW Greg,

If you're going surfing in WA, I hope you've got lots of time! There are great waves in SW WA. You will find spots around the SW corner within 1hr drive to suit almost any swell size and wind direction. You can even combine surfing and 4wdriving in one excursion. Places like Black Point are a great drive and great waves too (you might have heard about it around Easter when the mother and 2 sons unfortunately drowned). There are also lots of places in the Margaret River/Dunsborough area that are a short 4wdrive but enough to put off the crowds you get elsewhere - names like Gallows, Guillotines and 3 Bears spring to mind.

If you've got time, you have to head north as well. Well-known areas include Red Bluff at Quobba (possibly the best 2 week surfing trip of my life) and Gnaraloo just further north. Also Yardie Creek at Exmouth and Red Bluff at Kalbarri. Heavy waves and experience req'd in the north-west, though. Also great 4wdriving.

hi toby. im a bunbury bloke. the sts are, to put it nicely, f@#$king great. but i was only running the stocka tyres before. i am muchly impressed. we got a set of rancho RS5000's and also 4 40mm lifted coil springs. we ordered these from www.rancho.com.au. the cooper sts we got from tyrepower here in bunno for a great price of $235 each. (235/85 R16). paid $960 for 4 shocks and coils from ranchos. they pay for the insured post. i will try to get some pics and post for you. we usually go bashing around Brunswick Junction and the Collie area. but there are heaps of spots all over..we didnt change anygearing at all with the lift. but you do have to do something about the rear fenders. i did the relocation trick. works great. had the car flexed somethin cruel 2 day. rubbed a little in the back of the arch.. they are a great tyre.

Toby

Thanks for the pointers, been hangin to get over to Margo's for a long time. Reckon it will have to be next year now though, gotta get married this year, so all my holidays are gone with that and going to Sri Lanka. Should get some good waves on the east coast there. All I need is a Richmond jumper to stay on the good side of the Tamil Tigers!!! (I hope no Swans supporters read this)

Todd

hurry up with some action shots, man. The new gallery section has been dry as for weeks

Have good one fellas

gtt

i did email some pics to this site but as yet they havent been put up. that was about 2 weeks ago. went 4wd on the weekend just gone and found that the tyres still rub a little if you dont relocate the fender out enough. DOH. so out came th hacksaw and trimmed a little off. hopefully have some more pics this week. mainly of being bogged. haha. my mate tried to cross a little stream. bout 1 metre wide. came screaming down the hill to it at about 70kms/h. no little stream that one. took nearly 4 hours 3 busted snatch straps and a recovery vehical call outto get him out.. nasty..
