First let me say that I LOVE COFFEE!!!!

Now that that is over, I am not sure if this is a technical or non Technical question.

What suggestions do you all have for good cup holder in my new '97 Disco. If the standard response is the set for $50 please tell me where I can get them Cheap or has someone came up with a better way to take care of this issue. When I pick mine up in two days, I would very much like to have an idea of what I am going to have to do in order to DRINK and DRIVE my new toy (and by no means does toy mean toyota).

Thanks in advance for any or all help that may or may not be giving. I will not hold anyone personally responsible for any idea that I may or may not use.....sorry I need my afternoon pre-dinner cup of coffee.

Joey

CUP HOLDERS?.......CUP HOLDERS!
What the hell? Here on discoweb we dont talk about cup holders, we argue about arb lockers vs. detroit lockers and what not.
Here's an idea Joey. Go over to the general non-tech area and click on the "new bumper" thread. Ask about your cupholders there. You may get some good responses.

Man that made me laugh hard....

Hey, this is a very technical question in my mind. If I don't have my coffee, I could care less if the lockers work or if my lights flash on and off like a police car....

Coffee...

Im just messin with you man. Sorry to bust your balls, I havent had my coffee this morning.
What's wrong with the factory DI cup holder tray (other than the fact that it breaks easy)? It seems to work fine with paper starbucks cups.
LOL :-)

I have the ones from the D2, and they are about 50, but they are great, i can fit my 64oz drinks in them!! But I would suggest buying only one and putting it on the passenger side which would only be $25. When I lock the center diff i always hit it, so i just took it out.

Go to your local PepBoys or auto parts place and check out what they have for universal cup holders.

I put in the big jugs (big jugs are always a good thing!) on the center console. Now if I want a monster drink of soda it holds it. I did tilt the driver's side one a little to the right so when I have a large cup it doesn't get in the way of steering.

I haven't seen the D2 holders up close yet, but they look better than the ad-ons for the D1. I have one of those that I have velcroed to the rail. The Velcro doesn't make for a firm cupholder, but it helps it be a pretty handy ashtray. (The ashtray/coinholder/switchbox has switches in it.) I couldn't bear to screw shuch an ugly thing on my truck.

If the D2 add-ons will hold a larger cup or even a small bottle, I will look into them though.

If you can afford a 24oz. cup of coffee each morning then a $25.00 cup holder to hold it shouldnt be an issue. I have the DII holders and they are pretty good, but yes they do get in the way sometimes.-Matt

I don't think coffee and a camelback would go well together.

As far as buying my coffee, I make a pot or two every day :-) the nice thing about working from home. The only problem is when I get paged out to work at 0dark30 and have to drive 2 hours one way to perform a 30 minute fix and drive 2 hours home.....I would then have to buy a cup.

That is unless I find a good way to mount a coffee maker in my Disco. Hmmm

Joey,

Here is a cheap, yet effective alternative to those big, cumbersome, girly-man cupholders. These guys ship fast. May not hold a "big gulp" but will definitely hold a 20 oz. cup of coffee.

I do have to admit, I am tired of hearing people complain about spending 50 bucks on items that add convenience and functionality to the vehicle you drive, especially when you will get a ton of use out of the item. Even more annoying is when they will spend more than their "time value" to try to find a cheap solution to the same problem.

Here is the thing: Think about how much you bill out hourly at the job you work. Especially you, Joey, you appear to work from home, and likely have your own business. Lets just say you bill out 60 dollars an hour to a client. Hell, lets just say you bill out 30 dollars an hour, which is AMAZINGLY low in consulting.

Considering that you have probably spent more than two hours considering, pondering, wondering, about friggin cup holders, instead of spending the 50 bucks on them, you have already spent more in "time value" and opportunity cost than you would have had you just bought the damn things. (not to mention the dry cleaning bills and pain medications you probably have from having hot ass coffee spilled in your crotch because you wont go spend the money :-) )

Why step over a dollar to pick up a dime?

Just my 2 cents.

P.S. I hear Texaco is having a sale on the window sill cup holders. They are down from $1.49 to a low low price of $1.19!!!! Go get em, Tiger, youll save 30 cents!
