Good morning, well for most of I hope, it hasn't been for me. On the way to work this morning my drivers side CV joint blew out. It had only been clicking for a few days. Started to walk when three little letters came to mind, C.D.L. Went back to the truck, '95 D1, after getting my bike. I locked the CDL in high and whoohoo! mobility! Now my question is this, how long can I still be mobile without screwing too much up? Now ordinarily I would already have the part on the way and ready to start tearingit apart but I have an extended warranty on it and it covers the cv's. Any help would be apprieciated. |

Pull the CVs, halfshafts and the front driveshaft and you can pretty much drive as long as you wish (within reason). Once the CV joint begins clicking, it is only a matter of time until it grenades, destroying the swivel housing and ball from the pieces bouncing around inside and eventually interfering with the swivel action. Replace both of them as the condition that led to the first one going likely is occurring on the other side-hopefully, you can convince your warranty company to replace both, if not, eat the cost yourself.
