Is a 99 Disco I set up plug in to a standard trailer lighting plug? I am renting a U-haul open trailer this weekend and just assumed that because every other truck that I had that I have owned that had a hitch also had a light hookup that the disco would too.. But I never saw a plug anywhere on the disco so I figured I would check it here. If not, does anyone know if what uhaual will do if there is no light hookup? Will they care? It is a low open trailer not a box trailer that I will be placing rolls of sod in so there will be a clear view of the truck lights themselves.

If there's a stock plug, it's a round 7-pin Euro plug made by Hella, and not a typical flat-4 that U-hauls have. If you bought yours used, there's a chance that the previous owner wired in a Uhaul connector into the harness behind the rear taillight.... but maybe not. They may not do a thing, or, they may sell you a harness and wire it in for you.... Wish I could be of more help.... -L

If there's a harness hanging next to the trailer hitch, check the plug to see if it's the "euro" kind or the "flat/uhaul" kind as Leslie pointed out above. If no harness, check behind passenger side tail light to see if it's coiled up there. If not, you have two options. 1.)Spend about $100 bucks and get the LR Genuine Trailer Wiring Harness (Not sure if it comes with adapter for the flat/uhaul kind - if not, it may/will cost you extra) or 2.)Go to the Tech Section and look for the write up on the Uhaul Trailer Wiring Harness. It should cost you more or less $20. Good luck! Glenn |

The factory kit contains the flat four adapter. While overpriced, it is a nice bit of kit. Uhaul wouldn't let me have the trailer without the light hookup. |

Unless you are in some ghetto area u-haul, ( which they areknown for) they wont let you drive away without lights. spend the 20 bucks and take the 17 minuets it takes to wire them up.. its in the tech section. Use the 80 dollas you saved from buying the genuine set up, and buy something nice... joshua |
