Hey All,
After 5 years I've FINALLY convinced my wife that a Disco is the way to go. We're looking at a 2000 SE7 that is still under factory warranty. The Disco is being sold by a small used luxury dealer (not a LR dealer), and my wife is fairly nervous about reliability. She loves the thought of LR's great factory warranty and would be much more comfortable if we could extend it. Any of you have good or bad experiences with extended warranties? I'm really looking for something that's as extensive as the LR warranty after it expires in 1 yr. What can I expect to pay for such a warranty? Will LR offer an extended warranty even if I don't buy from them? Thanks from a hopeful future owner.

Land Rover should offer an extended warranty as long as you get it before your current factory warranty run's out. That goes for aftermarket warranties as too. Hal Moses at Auto advantage is popular one however you will here some mixed reviews on how they like that warranty. However much of it depends on the type of warranty you get (listed component, bumper to bumper) I got a four year fifty thousand mile bumper to bumper on a Disco that had been out of warranty but under fifty thousand miles, once you hit fifty everything changes. My warranty ran around 1700 I believe. My sister has a Land rover warranty that she got to extend her factory coverage with I think was only two years twenty four thousand miles or so but was more around 2500 dollars, that's what you get with factory coverage though. My advice would be to probably look into getting the factory coverage and once you can no longer get that go ahead and get one such as the ones on this page http://www.rangerovers.net/rrwarranties.htm
I'm sure other people will have totally different opinions but I did a lot of research and that's what I did. My biggest advice is really look into the aftermarket companies and make sure they are legit. I ran into a company that more or less was going out of business as they agreed to cover my car. Best of Luck. My 2 cents.

Jason, I e-mailed this to you, but it bounced back.
Jason,
I saw your post on Discoweb. If you search the archives, you should
find my very extensive post that shows all of the options for LR
warranties. You still do qualify, and I can do everything you need over
the phone/fax. Give me a call tomorrow at (610) 964-9100 x108 & we can
talk about it.

Alyssa: Would LRML cover a 1995 Disco1? It's got under 35,000 miles (from what I can remember). In fact, you've probably seen it there recently...

Nicholas, you can get an assured driveline warranty, which only covers major driveline components. It is good for 12 months/12,000 miles, and you can keep getting it year after year, until you reach 100,000 miles. Unless you have a really bad basketcase, you usually won't recoup your costs for the warranty. This is in sharp contrast to the regular assured or certified warranties, which are absolutely worth it!

Not to sound like a smart ass, but what does that leave me that will likely need to be looked after in 4 yrs? And what should I expect to pay for this? Thanks.
