There seem to be rivet type things holding them on behind the rocker panel screws. How do they come off? Thanks

Mike, I went wheelin, 2 weeks ago (FL mud), I thought that would do it but they seem much more sturdy than that....I guess its off to Telico I go.

I took off the D1 mud flaps, that also had rivet looking things. They appeared to be rivets, but when I hacksawed through them, I figured out they were actually threaded, but I dont know how they got them on so tight, as I've never seen a threaded setup like that, without an actual hex nut/bolt.

There should be two nuts and bolts on the horisontal level and two screws on the outer side where the mud flaps attach to the side panel. All four should be clearly visible on clean (read without mud) mudflaps. Undo and remove.

Expedition Exchange's very detailed installation of Rovertym sliders explains how to remove the mud flaps from a D2, with pics too.

The best rock to scrape the mudflaps off with can be found in MOAB Utah..... aside from that, these are simple rivets which can be drilled out.

Edward.

Good to see you posting around these parts! The rocks in Moab are only great because you have easy access to them. However, I am pretty sure that there are many excellent rocks around this great country of our that can sucessfully remove the said flaps :-)
