I have a vibration that I have traced to my transfer case. It shakes the whole truck under certain load/speed conditions. If the t-case is in neutral everthing is smooth. If either output shaft spins, I have vibration even when on stands with driveshafts removed. I had looseness in the front output shaft bearing (radial bearing SKF 6207)and it was my first suspect. Today I pulled the front 1/3 of transfer case with that bearing and front output shaft. On inspection the bearing looks fine, no discoloration or pitting!!! I now suspect it is the tapered differential bearings' preload that may be loose allowing the diff. to move about. The LR rebuild manual mentions a special LR tool for setting the preload. Does anyone have a way to do such while it is in truck and without that tool?? Does anyone know the Timkin number of these center diff. bearings? Thank you for your help.
It is now 5 years with this truck and I have brought it to a shop only once.

Have you checked the transfer case input gear and gear box main shaft for spline wear, this can cause a vibe. You set the bearing pre-load using a simple spring balance and a piece of string wrapped around the high/low shift hub spline. 3-10lb. You have to remove the intermediate gear so there is no load on the diff. You access this through the bottom plate. You can't test the diff gear preload without removing the diff.
The front shaft always has float in it.
