Anyone know the size of the stub axle locknut ('97 Disco SD)? I'm in the process of changing the brakes/rotors and could not find a suitable hub-nut socket.

I beleive that it is a 2 1/16.
That is the size I have seen mentioned here several times.

Thanks, Mike! I will look for that size socket. Would you know why it's a standard size rather than metric?

Since I have had my disco I have discovered that it takes both standard and metric tools to work on it. I have also seen it mentioned here on this board that you will need both standard and metric tools.

Alot of metric sizes cross over to standard sizes, like the lug nuts, 27mm is close enough to 1 1/16 that you will see it mentioned here frequently. The 2 1/16 size is about 52.3mm

52mm or 2 1/16.
2 1/16 is a lot easier to come by and it's even what they use at the dealership I just bought the hub nut tool from BP b/c I couldn't find it ANYWHERE locally.

You can find one (2-1/16) on Ebay for $10 almost always.

this is the same size as CJ axle nut. Napa stores most likely won't have them in stock, but will order one for you overnight.

2 1/8" is a little loose but works fine.
