I want to check my antenna leads on the back of my radio. My weather band hasn't worked for some time and I miss it. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

there should be two small holes on the front. One on each side. Inside the hole is a very small allen key screw. Loosen each screw and pull it out.

good luck

Thank you Brad. I couldn't see in those holes to see what the driver type was. I also didn't know if I needed to remove the dash trim around the radio first. Again thank you.

OK, I removed the radio and checked the antenna connections and both connections are good. Does anyone in the Chicago area have problems getting Weather Band? Does anyone have any ideas why I may not receive it? I know the frequencies have not changed because I have an older weather band radio in my house that works well. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How old it your truck? As I understand it, over time the antenna wears out or the signal degrades. I replaced mine and now I can receive stations that I could not get before on both bands. You may want to replace it. You can pick one up at Atlantic British for about $20. I suspect you could get one from a local parts store and it would jus the same but I am not sure.

I have a 98 LSE and they are in the rear side windows. I checked the connections there and they seem good. My AM and FM channels come in fine. Does yous have this type or the whip type?

I have a 96 and the antenna is on the right front fender. the previous owner had a flexible antenna, i replaced it with a genuine metal one for $20-$25.

Thanks Brad, I guess it may be the radio then because mine are in the glass and the connections look good. Thanks anyway.

Jim,
I also have a 98 LSE. Above the window is an amplifier. You have to remove the right hand Alpine light trim casing to access it according to the book. If the amplifier goes bad, the signal may be completely lost. Just my .02.

Does anyone have more detailed info on this 'amplifier' in the window? I have a 99 Disco II and will only pick up one FM radio channel even in the middle of the city (AM sux too). I'm willing to mount an external antenna on the spare tire mount, but I don't know where to tap into the antenna co-ax. Please clue me in if you can.
Thanks

Thanks Bill, Sorry it took so long to reply. I'll check it out. I'm going to get a part number and price first before I pull the window.
