So, here in New England, it rained for the entire Memorial Weekend. Looking forward to the mud it should leave, but first....... My Passenger windshield wiper arm is so loose that it moves when moved by hand, and 4 times out of 10, will either not come up to wipe the windshield, or smash into the driver's side wiper, locking them both together (this generally happens in the pouring rain and when doing 70+ mph, so you HAVE to pull over and fix). Any ideas? How do you remove and inspect? Tighten? TIA |

yeah, this happened to me once and it tool a while to figure out but its a simple fix really. on the very top of the wiper, right on the 'pivot point' you can pull the little cover off (it doesn't look like a seperate part but it is) and there is a nut, tighten it and you will be all good. |

Carter, I've got that nut reefed down pretty tight, I'm concerned about stripping something out there. Before I pull it apart, and drop shtuff in the dirt, is there a keyway or something that catches the wiper arm? I remember this, combined with a toothed spline (which all promptly strips out) on a BMW I had years ago. |

I had the same problem, I removed arm on to see stripped spline. That's what I thought it was until I bought new arms and foundout there are only splines on the stub(on body) not the arm. If I were you I'd remove arm clean splines and reattach splines should cut into arm just like a new one. |

I did the same thing as Eric, then found that it wasn't enough. I drilled the wiper arm then then tapped the hole and put a set-screw in. It has worked for almost a year now. Before tapping the hole, I mounted the drilled wiper arm on the "splined" post in the correcty operating position and drilled thrpough the hole. This put a smal detent into the splined shaft so when the set-screw is screwed in it will mechanically lock with the shaft, not just holdit in by friction. It's also a good idea to have the wiper arm mounted on the truck when deciding where to drill the hole, so you can get at it to tighten the set-screw. This process has put off buying a new windscreen wiper assy for a while now. -Reed |

Land Rover is aware of this problem and has put out a replacement to fix the problem. Contact you local dealer and ask them about it, they SHOULD know. |
