Two questions:
1)My transmission recently developed a major "centrifigal sound" above 25-30mph had made several ratcheting sounds prior and did not always engage between park and drive. Before parking it I tried to put the selector in drive and heard a spinning sound like the transmission was attempting to engage but didn't. Eventually after several attempts the transmission engaged in drive and I went about half a mile before it popped out of gear. Eventually again it went into drive. Not sure if this sounds like a repairable item or if it's toast. Any thoughts?
2)I was told that the torque converters on all DI's from 96 on were different from the 94-95MY. Can the transmissions still be transplanted or not? If so what adjustments need to take place to make the transmission work with the torque converter. I was also told that certain 3.9 RRC's would transplant fine based on engine number- any idea which MY's would work? Thanks.

You need to stick to the 94-95 year D1 and any 3.9 liter as 96 and later added electronic control of the transmission.
Ericksons in CT offer rebuild units for $1300 or so.... You may also be able to get a rebuild shipped from England (ashcroft)
