Hey guys...

I just saw my new OME catalogue (#16), and there is a shock, N76L, that is ~26" that can be used for the front of our Landies...

However, it is ~2.5" taller when compressed than the standard OME shock, and 1.25" than the N73 that a lot of people are already using...

Do you think I can use that shock with the 764 springs?

You Sure can! I have the N115 shocks with a 3" extention and 764 springs on my D1. I can compress the spring to around the 8" area and still have a 1/2" of shock left before they bottom out. When these shocks poop out, I will move up to the N76L.

Yeah.. EE has been selling them for a while now. I run a set of those up front on my Disco with 3" springs. I have only had them for 2 months but they are so much quieter than the Stage III Fox shocks I had up there. Feels nice having new shocks up there too. :-)

Chris,

I "may" be wrong, but I am kinda certain that EE has been selling the N76 (without the "L" suffix)...(EE guys jump in here and confirm).

Anyways, The N76 that is on the EE site is MUCH shorter that this N76L (confused yet? :-))...

I'd like to know whether or not it will be worth it to go the extra distance...or just stick to the N76.

The N76 shock is for the rear isn't it? It has eyelet openings on both ends. Can you mount that in the front? Well, now that I think about it, I guess you could mount them if you went with different shock towers and different lower mounts. I'm not sure how the N76L connects, I've never even heard of it. Nadim, maybe you can answer this. Is the N76L the same or does it have the straight bolt style connectors?

Damn.. my bad. I am incorrect. I am running the N73 not the N76 up front.

Ok Ok Ok...

To make thing MORE confusing, I was wrong with the numbers:

1. the N76 (SIX) is the rear eye-eye application that I and others are using in the rear. this is NOT the subject here.

2. the N73 (three) and N73L (three 'l') are the pin-pin type that have surfaced a year ago and are used along with the OME 764 springs up front. Now below are the specs:

Shock Ext. Lenght Coll. Length
N45F 21.8" 12.8"
N73 24.2" (+2.4") 13.9" (+1.1")
N73L 26.3" (+4.5") 15.2" (+2.4")

Now I'll be riding the front on OME 764, which are usually complementated by the N73 (three). Do any of you think that I may be able to run the N73L (three 'l') safely?

When fully compressed, the 764s are 1.6" taller than the original 751s, therefore the N73L, at 2.4" taller at compression may work with a better bumpstop.

Appreciate your advise ASAP.

good Luck, and thanks.
