I finally got around to installing my pins that I got from Pangea Expeditions. This was worse than cutting up the quarter panels to fit the tires. Drilling that first hole through the $900 aluminum hood was hell. As it turns out there wasnt anything to worry about. The only tools I used was 2 drill bits and the file on my leatherman tool. I painted my pins black to blend in with the black disco better. I completly unbolted the stock hood latch so I will never break the line and be unable to open the hood. The best part about the pins is that my hood no longer dances with the wind on the freeway. I had it up to almost 80 this morning the hood is rock solid. Dosent even twitch. I havent yet decided if the pins look ghetto or bad-ass. They are diffrent, never seen a disco with these, probably never will, that's a good thing. Overall I'm happy with them. The reason I wanted them was to cure the flappy hood, and they did that much better than expected, so mission accomplished. Dan |

Dan - you've got me thinking... My hood is a real mother to open via the cable - do you know if there's any way to adjust this other than that nut right where the handle itself is? I definitely don't want to snap it off, so maybe I'll look into those pins... |

The cable needs to be replaced. You can try to oil it if you don't feel like replacing it - but its a simple fix. |

I'm not to good about taking pictures and putting them on the web but it looks just like this only my truck is black and the pins are sprayed flat black also. I put them in the exact same location. At first I couldnt figure out where to put them. It didnt look like there was anywhere where they could go. I looked up this picture and directly under this spot on the hood is a good piece of aluminum core support you can drill. I also have mine facing the other way, the thin part of the base points in rather than out toward the fender as in the pic below.
