I am in need of another tune up for my '89 RRC. I got an atlantic british kit before, but wasnt too impressed with it. I might have gotten a bad kit. I wanted to see what kit people like the best and also wanted to see what other tune up kits people have used other than AB and Roversnorth. I have heard of some people getting some things from pep boys but i was wondering about part numbers and such. Any info will help with that. My other question was about A/C. I just replaced my expansion valve and i am trying to see if the upgrade to the 134 freon is worth it. I know in price it is, but is there a kit for a RRC (price?) and does it get as cold as the original freon? Also should i get my A/C system charged before i replace my heater core, or will i have to discharge it again for that entire project?

Thank you
Ryan Wilcox

stick with genuine cap and rotor, and quality plugs and wires. i seems like 1 in 4 people whoi use non genuine cap and rotor have lack-luster performance and/or starting issues.

I got a tune up kit from British Pacific, which included lots of stuff, and it only had LR parts.

You don't need to remove the freon to get to the heater core, but you do need to drop the evaporator on the passenger side to get the dash out.

I would replace the entire heater assembly. It's like being trapped in a nightmare trying to replace that core. You can delay the job until winter with a bypass hose under the hood.

is that a job you want to taclke when it's cold and rainy? seems like summer time when you can drive around without heat is the best time to do it.

of course i've had my spare core for a year now and haven't "had" to put it in yet :-) fingers crossed.
