wow....

shitty.. Things seem to have been going downhill with the whole mountaintop playground over there. And too bad for Mike as well. I see it being more and more private, which is probably just as well.

That's a real disgrace. The folks at ECR are damn good people and I'm absolutely floored that someone stole equipment from them, as well as emailed them complaining about the cost of four-wheeling.

If you think an event is too expensive, try organizing or even volunteering to put one on. Anyone who complains about that shit is a joke.

BTW, I'm certain that damage to Greg's truck was there before the event. Just check his pics from Moab off of POR.

That genuinely sad, and to complaining about a $30.00 fee for a day of off-road land use is a joke. I spent almost that to see the freaking "Nemo" Disney movie Friday with my kid (yes it was good). Some people are so cheap!

As much as I admire Mike and the rest of the ECR people and feel sorry for their loss I think the editorial is a bit in bad taste. Advertise you are going away for a weekend, something gets stolen, then blame "the Land Rover masses" for the theft, when it is just as easy for someone non-afiliated to put one and one together that no one was going to be at the shop.

Unless they know it was a "land rover" person (in which case I hope they get him) I think it is in bad taste to blame it on "the land rover masses."

Ron

PS as far as $30 if you have been to HEC you know that $30 is nothing compared to the damage you will do :-)

It seems as though a lot of events that are put on are in the 25~40 dollar range. Then there are some events that can run up to half a grand or more. These expensive trips look nice and you get what you pay for.

On the other hand, I've paid money for land use and the trails there didn't even require low range. Thses places were overpriced for what they offered, and they offered nothing challenging or even fun. I would never go back to those places.

By looking at the pic that was posted, it appears that there was no shortage of challenging terrain.

I too feel sorry for the guys at ECR. It is terrible when someone steals items from someone else at an event (no matter what car event, LR or other). For the most part, theft at car shows/rallies is unheard of. I usually feel safe whenever I go to a large organized event (or even a small one).

I really hate to hear about this and can understand why ECR doesn't want to waste their time and energy on something like this.

Max T.
