Alan that was very funny to me- I'm not sure if I was holding in some unfinished laughter from other thoughts, or if it was really that funny to everyone else- But I pictured myself standing in front of a pond throwing medium sized rocks across the water trying to see how far they would skip.

LOL, I was never told at the dealership that my 6 foot tall 'darby' cant drive through a 8 foot deep water hole....... So since I'm ignorant now everyone has to pay to fix my truck :-) LOL

:-) They should just put a full under carriage "skid plate" for that purpose. Might be funny to see a Freelander skim across a mud hole, spinning in circles while doing it.

I've said a lot about how I feel about the sell-out H2 - that photo must be humiliating. I'd actually feel bad for the guy if I were the FL owner. But I would be getting videos, photos, and personal testamonies gallore!!!

The H2 with those big tires, lockers (2 right?), and traction control, getting stuck in a fairly deep, but relatively harmless mud puddle!!

Ha-Ha

Hey, check out the tires, he's been there a while - they are dry. And there isn't any mud on them, that really is just a puddle - not a mud hole. And he can't claim that water ingress killed the engine, or that he was afraid he wouldn't be able to climb out the other side. The H2 just let him down, that's all.

Would your disco have made it R.B., would mine?

I've had all manner of cars unstuck my disco. My dads Olds Bravada, a Ford Ranger.

The diffrence is I didnt take pictures and post them on the web. :-)

I wonder if a disco has ever been unstuck by a Honda Civic or something like that. Oh, the shame!

Wow! That mud puddle is nothing, if you can even call it a puddle, my wife's BMW X5 would have made it through, that H2 is one lame POS or the driver just does not no what the hell he is doing, he needs to keep that H2 on the street where it is meant to be.

I'm guessing just a lack of experience. Probably decided to stop half way through to take some pictures or something.

My truck made it through the hole without any problems. What you cannot tell is the depth of the ruts on either side of the truck. He was high centered and without larger tires and a lift, only skipping over the puddle is possible.

I will say this, during that outing the few H2 owners in the group truely put thier trucks to the test.

A Ha! I might now that I have new tires! But really, it looks easy, but who knows. I would say though, my truck would be absolutely covered in mud from the effort before enlisting someone for a tow. Either he didn't even try, or the truck was simply STUCK.

I got stopped last weekend on a cross axle situation going over a creek, with a 4 foot wash-out and role down the hill on one side, and a tree or two on the other. I had two wheels (FDS, and RPS) as much as 6 inches off the ground. The only reason I got stopped though is because I was about 3 inches to far to the right of the correct track. Next try I drove through without any hesitation - the dude isn't even trying to get his truck out and is obviously scared to get it muddy.

I got pulles by my friend's JGC from a hole I take almost every day (It is a "Shortcut" near my house)
I was on my way home from work, so I was all in my nice clothes and everything. My tires fell into the ruts and it was all over. I had all 4 wheels off the ground and my diffs were buried.

After several unsuccessful attempts, we decided to jack it up and yank it off the jack.
Now I know why I carry my hi-lift wherever I go.

Funny how the small, easy trails can be the ones that get you.

As for the H2 in the picture...all I can say is at least he tried.

No, no, no, no.

The H2 is pulling the 'lander throughout the whole trail. The freelander was stuck in the mud behind the puddle.

Er, uhm, ok...
