I bought an 88 classic for parts and can't figure out how to get the lower rear tail gate off. I took off the bolts where the hinge bolts to the gate but the fucker won't budge and there are some funky tensioner looking springs between the gate and the body that I'm not sure what they do. Any help would be appreciated Wes |

i think if you take the cardboard off the back of the lower tailgate you'll see bolts in there, you can just slide it onto the existing hinges i beleive. rd

Yeah I got that far, there is a big bolt and two smaller screws on each hinge. I took them off and couldn't move it one bit. I think how those springs are mounted in there may have something to do with it. Wes |

I CANT REMEMBER ,. I ENDED UP TAKING THE SPRINGS OUT. if i recal they sort of reminded me of the type of spring they used on the hood hinges too. a long u-shaped rod that binds itself. i remember knocking a pin out or something plus lots OF pb BLASTER. i'll hafve to look when i get ho0me. rd |
