Somebody please wake me up!
NAPA, BAP, Autozone, Checker, NOBODY even so much as lists a part number for an upper radiator hose for a 94 Disco1?
I absolutely cannot believe that the entire world drives to a Land Rover dealer and pays $45 whenever they need a radiator hose!
Somebody, anybody, help me! Is there a cross reference to a more available part?
I'm about to drive over to the dealer for a quick nooner (without the kiss) unless someone can point me in another direction.
Thanks,
Jim

Call the guys at discountrovers or one of the other parts houses. You should be able to find almost any part either through the UK or someone here who is importing from the UK. Why not replace all your hoses for cooling and get a kit. There are one or two small ones that always get overlooked. It sounds like it may be a good time to do an inventory and replace worn hoses all at once.

Check Atllantic British (I believe this is the one your looking for)-they have your hose for $15.95 so you don't get hosed at the dealer.

Thanks all, I'll order one Monday morning. Can't believe that Land Rover hasn't released the rights to manufacture this via 3rd party. It actually kind of pisses me off. I'm off to Denver next week and if I'd have blown this hose in Shiprock, NM I'd be screwed. The hose is nothing unique, absolutely no reason for this not to be available at every corner auto parts store.
This is just about the only thing that I find unforgivable about these vehicles.
Rant over, thanks.

Schucks Auto supply carries them. Only the upper hose but they do carry them. Don't know if they are a national chain but if you live in the Pacific NW you can find 'em.

Buy only genuine LR rad. hoses. The aftermarkets suck. This is an "Allmakes" lower hose about 2 months old:

Duct tape works for a few minutes, at least in the CA desert, then it sucks also :-)

Duct tape (and a tie strap) got me about 900 miles. You need to use a lot of duct tape, not just one wrap.

Ron

PS yes buy genuine hoses

Actually - Napa DOES carry a replacement upper- is the lower one that has the "t" in it that's so hard to find. NAPA's is made by GATES Rubber - one of the bigger, more reputable mfg's...

Mine lower radiator hose is an Allmakes and it has lasted for two years and nearly 70K miles.

The upper is 720 m/m X 95 m/m if it helps any. I see generic hoses quite often.

Just replaced mine from NAPA. Part #9244 price $21.99 plus tax= $23.75. British Pacific had some for $15.00, but it evens out with shipping, plus I needed it yesterday, and if I had ordered from Brit Pac, I wouldn't have had it until Monday.

The may or may not have in stock locally, I guess it depends on their clientel. Might check it out.

I have been as frustrated as any landrover owner over the lack of aftermarket parts but remember that LR only sells about 25-30 thousand Discoveries in the US each year. It is one of the things that makes owning a Landrover such a unique experience, we could all go out and buy an Explorer and have parts a' plenty but what fun would that be?

NAPA does have it. Go to www.napaonline.com and go through the procedure. 20.00 bucks.
