All right, I've read the archives about catco converters being useable on Disco's, but I'm left with a couple of questions.
1) Will a 6005 cat work on my '96 Disco? The local muffler guy says that it won't because of the OBDII system in my truck.
2) Disco's have different shaped cats side to side. I would like to replace the left one with a similar (cylinder shaped) cat so that it won't get bashed as often. What have others done?
Thanks in advance

Mark

Can't answer question #1, but I'm sure others can. As for #2, my RRC also had two different shaped cats. The Catcos were smaller than both of them. Clearance is not a problem

Just a follow-up. Turns out that the OBDII doesn't care too much about the cats. Also, there are several aftermarket cats that will work on Rovers, they are just not listed in the books as such. Just need to match up engine configuration, displacement, total vehicle weight, and size/shape. The problem is that since they are not listed as replacements, the shop installing them cannot legally do it. Seems that they are supposed to register new cats with the EPA.
The moral of the story: Buy your shop guy some beer, or weld it in yourself.
