Guys,
My buddy wants to sale his Black 97 SD Disco for $12K and it has 96K miles on it but he's had all his work done at Land Rover or by a former Land Rover Mechanic friend of his. It's loaded with the jump seats, CD Changer, brand new tires and no leaks at all. Do you guys think this is a good buy because I'm thinking about getting it for my wife?

Thanks,
Raymond

First, if it does not leak, you better check it, because somebody has not put oil in it. Second, the price sounds a little high. I just looked at a 97 for my wife with 79000 miles for $9000 and I thought it was high

I just bought a '97 SE7 w/ CD and rear air, for $9200. All I have done so far is S-belt, air filter, and fuel filter.

Joey, how difficult was the fuel filter to change? Did you use a Deutsch FF506? Thanks.

There was a thread recently about problems changing the fuel filter. Its very simple if the fittings aren't rusted together:

Depressurize the fuel system. (Remove the fuel pump fuse while engine is running & wait until engine dies)

Remove filter & replace. (Filter is in the rear passenger wheel well)

Reinstall fuse

a 97 SD should only run around 8 grand i could never see paying 12 for it and like bill says if it doesn't leak there is a problem. i'd look around try bear valley they seem to carry alot of older model disco's at good prices.

Not sure of the part number for the fuel filter, but that sounds right, I bought it at autozone, it was the only one they offered for the Disco. I had the front of the fuel filter would not unscrew, and had to remove the rear line first, then unscrew it from the front.

As far as depressurizing, I just took off the stem cover on the fuel rail (looks like a valve stem on the passenger side) then just pressed the stem in, and it let out a little fuel, that was it.
