I was wondering if anyone had good suggestions for replacement tires to fit the 18 inch LR rims. I haven't been able to find any that look very aggressive.

Thanks,
Hill

you won't find much, the best thing is to swap down to a 16 inch rim.

Hill,

I just went through the process of trying to locate all-terrain tires in the 18" size. The two closest ones I found were the Pirelli Scorpion S/T and Michelin XPC 4x4. Even then, these two tires have an on-road bias.

I ended up purchasing a set of 16" rims and mounting Goodyear MT/Rs to them.

I'm not sure what kind of trails you plan to ride on, but save the 18" tires/rims and buy something you can beat up on.

I agree with Chris, as will most folks here. The 18"s look nice but if you're going to do any off-pavement driving, opt for 16"s.

....and sonofabitch, take it from me, I'm officially a senior member now!

I don't even think they make the XPC's anymore.

oh yeah to fit that tire you've got to lift it at least two inches, real good a/t tread pattern with that tire

Do you happen to know the name of the tire, and where do you get your 2 inch lift?

Thank you for your information,

Hill

Hill - switch to HD springs and you'll achieve lift. How much lift depends on the brand and stiffness of the spring. LR HD springs give about 1 - 1.5" of lift. OME or RTE, you can get 2"+. Of course, your ride is going to be stiffer.

If you're going to do a lift, make sure you know why you're doing it and the consequences because there are trade offs to lifting/modifying a truck. Your profile says you have a 03 Disco so make sure you don't void warranty with modifications like that, especially if you're not going to use genuine LR parts. Otherwise you might wind up like Darby (if you don't know about Darby do a search and you'll find out everything you need to know).

Anybody have recommendations for 16" wheels? Cost, quality, and ability to clean (if desired ;) is important.

16x7 or 16x8.

Steel is fine. Saw this thread, looking for a set of off-road wheels for my '99 RR HSE to fit GY MTRs (currently shod with Hurricanes & Michelin Synchrones). Thought I'd ask. Aren't the later years of disco and rr wheels interchangable? Hmm.

D1 and RRC wheels are interchangable. You can often pick up steel Disco wheels from dealers, lots left over when people upgrade to alloys. I upgraded and asked to keep my steelies as well, put M/T's on them so you don't wear them down with shitty driving.

Hill,

If you have a 03 disco, you don't need to lift your rover to put bigger tires. I had my 265/75/R16s GY MTRs on my 03 disco before I put the OME lifts, and I didn't have any problems with rubbing on my disco even at full turn. I just didn't like the way it looked so low. I believe Toyo or Yokohamas make some pretty decent looking AT tires for 18" rims.
