Good afternoon, all.
I am wondering if anyone here in DWeb-land has ever owned and/or worked for a 4x4 touring company? The reason I ask is I have started forming the idea of opening a small scale Rover touring business. Before I dive too far into my initial market research, estimated startup costs, montly / yearly expenses estimates, etc...I wanted to touch base with people who have already had some involvement so I know what initial questions to ask at this early stage. I am probably two years out from opening the doors, but it could well take much of that time to work out a solid business plan.
I know that j**ps are the mainstay of these tour companies, but I have seen two instances where a small scale (2-4 vehicle) Hummer company was able to do well in a location saturated by 3-5 j**p companies each fielding 5 or more vehicles. The niche market will always appeal to certain people, and I believe that Rovers would fill as much of a mystique-oriented niche as Hummers do. Maybe more so in some cases.
