Glenn,

he didn't ask about white lettering, he asked about raised lettering.

The Enforcers... I might break out a tube of black RTV to raise the letters - they've all but worn out.

The question is "raised lettering"..
White outside or black outside.
Raised outside or dented outside.
Dented outside coud be more prone to side wall punctures No? ;>)

The original question was raised lettering, but what I meant to ask was raised white lettering on outside or turned in. I'm looking to get BFG AT's and they have white lettering as you all know with white outline letters.

Two inside, two outside, and don't forget to rotate them often so they don't form a regular pattern. (Need a cover on the spare to keep them guessing.)

For bubba, white letters are cool.

Where's Swamp Pappy, he probably loves the white letters, wouldnt buy tires without em.

You have a Land Rover man, the white goes inside.

This is America buddy!!!!! Where one can CHOOSE to have white lettering out! Its the American thing to do. You sound like a Rover Nazi. "Actung!!! Vrom this day vorrward...vhite letters shall be IN!!! Non-compliance vill result vin a two veek visit to Rover Re-conditioning Academy. Second offence vill result in reasignment to the next departing U-boat. Dankeschön...That is all!"

As far as raised lettering goes I figure its better than a slick sidewall in ruts. And as previously stated more meat so a lesser chance of sidewall tear or puncture. Just being analitical for a second.

Down here in redneckland, all the guys actually put the white letters in. So to be different, I put my "Discoverer"s out. I really like the tires matching my vehicle.

Listen guys- according to webster:
"Redneck- 1830-1840- a southern uneducated farmboy. "

I don't see many people out there with a sunburned neck hoeing corn, beans, taters or anything else. I own a Rover and actually do plow a garden and hoe corn. Isn't a Rover a farm vehicle anyway?

Call me a redneck- I'll take it as a compliment.

just FYI the term "redneck" has nothing to do with sunburns. It dates back to early labor unions which were primarily socialist/communist. The poor laborers of the era (yes in the South too) wore red bandanas to show their allegiance, hence the name "redneck". Remember before the late 50s the South was a Democratic stronghold. It took civil rights to convince poor white people they shouldn't be democrats or socialists. All that social equality and justice talk goes right out the window when you figure out it's going to include "negroes". Better to remain poor and exploited then equal to blacks right?

sorry for the history lesson, but it always amuses me when I hear what people think "redneck" means.

Chris,

Wait until NFL preseason. Rob goes through some type of psychomental transformation and all he sees is black and yellow. Then ole Cordel Stewert throws the game away with a 4th quarter interception and the fun begins. :-)

I just read this in Prison Digest:
"Martha Stewart suggests that when displaying white lettering 'out' on your 4-wheel drive vehicle, it's considered proper to have four of the same make, model and size tire. Also, never use an un-even number of snow chains and remove them at the same time you take down your Christmas lights (by mid-June)."

Good Ole Martha. Always there when you need her. What a good girl; She will be sooooo appreciated by all the prison girls that used to play rugby.:-)

So ole Stewy is a Bear now. Ok, so let me ask you this: "If Mike Ditka had to play the All-Madden pick from '73, who would win?"

"Ditka by 3"

ROTFLMAO profesional foot ball is a joke. My favorite is baseball though, those have a JOB that is really a recreational past-time and they get paid a lot of money for it but they still feel the need to go on strike to get more. To top it off baseball is probablly one of the least physically demanding sports there is: Sit on the bench, hit the ball, run a little bit, stand for a while, run a little more, sit on the bench, stand for a little while, catch a ball, throw the ball, sit on the bench, etc.... It really ticks me off when these guys start complaining about how much they get paid.

don't get my started on the Devils Alan. i hate most NJ teams with a heated passion. i lived in NJ for years and can only dislike some Philly fans more. haha. oh now don't all you folks get your panties in a bunch.
i am a Blues fan at heart being born there and raised there most of my life.
grew up playing hockey my whole life too. i still like to stick to the Blues and the original six. expansion teams are business owners. they are the illigitmate kids of the NHL in my oppinion.
it's not that i don't like the Devils, but more that i did not enjoy my stay in NJ i guess. that is where my bitterness comes from. oh well. i moved on. :-)

Alan-
I am a huge Devils fan (just short of a face painter) and grew up playing hockey in Michigan. I followed the Flyers mostly as a 70's kid. It was during the Kelly, Shultz, Clarke and company period. Fun to watch when I was younger but I like the NHL style of play now better. The Euros have made a big difference. It was a great series and the Devils defense did it again. Of course Marty B. was calm and clutch as usual. Only thing I wish was that Bobby Holik could have been there. What a stupid move to let him go.

GP-
Bitter, bitter, bitter! We posted concerning the D's before, you might remember. Did you watch the series? I have never been to Jersey but I was certainly disappointed in the NJ fans when Jiggy got booed accepting his trophy, it was not cool. He really made the series exciting and he will be a big part of his team again next year. My son is a goalie so I watch goaltending closely. Blues V. Devils next year? Any wagering possibilities?

yes i know. i hold grudges too!! :-) no doubt that NJ has some talent and is a good team, but i feel an allegiance to the Blues. Philly has/had some great talent as well and only blew it this year in a big way. oh well. its just a game.
we had season tickets to the Blues as a kid and i grew up down the street from Pat LaFontaine and my brother played at Yale. i have been playing since i was 5, so i grew up in a hockey family.
i am still proud that most hockey players are for the most part humble, intelligent and professional compared to the immature idiots that plaque many other sports out there.
players like Al MacInnis is one of the reasons i still follow the sport. at 40 years old the guy is timeless and classic hockey player in my opinion. not many like him left in the sport.
what the NJ fans did is something you would not find in many other hockey towns. shit like that goes against why the fans are there......to support their team. damn....i guess i am just getting old. :-)

Hockey used to be the shit before they held them back from whipping each others asses (Which is what they really wanna do anyway) all the time. Now Hockey is just as staged up as the WWF... Lets face it , some big bastard checks the piss out of you and you really want to hit him... Some dude puts the okie doke on you , makes you look stupid and scores , you want to hit him.. :-)

kyle just don't tell me you are a womans basketball fan?
true hockey has lost some of what made it the rogue sport it was once touted, but i still feel of the popular sports out there hockey has them beat. but what keeps me from turning the channel is that these guys are amazing athletes and tough mother fuckers as well.
none of this queer ass soccer shit where some long hair greek dipshit gets kicked in the shin only to lie on the ground rything in pain. get the fuck up and kick the ball around some more you pansy ass. the most dangerous thing in soccer is a penalty shot. ewwwww.....wow.....ouchy.
only time you see a guy down on the ice is when he has lost a few quarts of blood or can't see because the blood is in his eyes.
hockey ain't staged that is for sure. it's damn real when you see the glass behind the boards flex a good 6"+ after some huge ass Norweigen of 225 lbs. just tossed your ass like a rag doll in a parking lot.
same goes for basketball. overgrown freaks that could not get jobs at the local DQ. dumb asses ta boot. how many hockey players graduate from college? now compare that to your other professional sports.
have a nice day. :-)

Hanson Brothers: "Hey Coach want some foil?"

Paul Newman: "You guys always wrap your fingers in foil?"

Hanson Brothers: "Yeah coach, you know....Old time hockey...Iron League....Eddie Shore!"

Paul Newman: "Unfucking believable!"

Hockey is great! Went to 5 games last season (to include a Jersey devils / flyers game) and those boys hit. Hittin so hard that the glass seperates from the boards! One team takes a cheap shot and the other team sends out the goon. Why is it that a Hockey Player from Russia can play in the US and speak perfect English and an American NFL Player who graduated from Georgia Tech speaks in Ebonics? Huh?

mmmm. lady bowlers. they ain't as hot as the Amish ladies in the Big Valley just outside of town. talk about sexxxxxxy. rarrrrrrhhhhh.
jim...what year did you graduate and from what college? guessing '91 from your age. i was '94 College of Arts & Architecture. the damn town sucked me back in after years of being absent for many years. :-)

ps: Slapshot was actually written about real people. i forget the team name, but they were from Johnstown, PA and many of the characters in the film were actual players. and the Johnstown War Memorial was where they played. as did i as a youth.

Yea I'm more partial to hockey of about 10 - 15 years ago. Less commercialization and was more exciting. This years final didn't really do anything for me. It seemed a bit too glitzy for me; that more of it was wrapped up showmanship. I remember watching the playoffs of old when the Oilers were still a powerhouse and the excitement was from the rivalry and the game itself, not ducks flying in from the ceiling or whatever.

I still have on tape, the 1990 Stanley Cup Game 7 final between Edmonton and Boston. Gretzky was gone already but you still had all the other guys like Coffee, Messier, Anderson, Lowe, etc. That was exciting!

Kinda wished the NHL would go back that way but there's too many business owners now than actually hockey owners.

If I'm not mistaken it was the Charlestown Chiefs in slapshot. I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan even though we keep giving our team away to others in order to dump salaries...... I could go on for hours on that so I will spare you all. There is something about being at a hockey game, and I miss very few. Let me see any basketball player lose a few chicklets (teeth) for those who didnt know, and get right back up knock the shit out of the guy that hit him and then proceed to play the game.

Well thats exactly what I am saying about Hockey. You still have some pretty tough bastards in the sports and working their way up is just like the NHL USED to be I am sure. But once they get to the big show all the modern day BS comes into play. This was exactly my point. You have all these big hard ass mother fuckers that you just know want to beat the living piss out of some cheap shot taking bastard but they cant , I mean shit , we live ina kinder gentler nation , how would it look ? Imagine if you put a Flyers team from when the flyers were kicking ass against one of the Soccer teams ? Now you got some shit worthy of a riot. :-) Might not be a single god damn point scored the whole game but you would have some serious entertainment...

having grown upin the deep south, Hockey was never a game that i had much experence with. a couple of years ago my wife took me to a Columbus Blue Jacket game and since then i have been hooked. i couldn't tell you what the hell is going on but it was cool just the same.

You should experience playing in one of these arenas. I got a chance to play in the Oilers rink when I was younger the night after the Oilers and Kings played. You could still see the assignments on the play board and standing on ice level looking up into the stands is quite awe inspiring. Hockey was much cooler back then. Players had a lot more respect for each other and money wasn't an issue. You mess with a star player or cheap shot someone; expect to get your ass kicked on the next shift. It was just part of the game, players knew it, fans knew it, refs knew it...it was accepted. Too many rules now.

In order to bring this topic back to the relm of Land Rover Tom Barasso the former Penguin goaltender used to Drive a Red D90 when he lived in Pittsburgh. Ok now we can go off on any tangent that someone sees fit.

Alan,

Coffey was gone after 87. Sorry man. Oilers were great back then but the Flyers were better. I have the 87 final's still on tape somewhere.

Hey don't be startin' no Battle of Alberta here or I'm gonna have to pull out the 5 Stanley Cups to your measly...what was that??... oh yea, 1. :-)

But yea, the Oilers/Flyers years were good...especially the year that Hack...Hextall slashed Kent Nilsenn. That was a good match up. But the Boston series had the black out though. But man, did those Oilers and Flyers hate each other.

i still have an old North Stars pin somewhere. Sad to see the Winnipeg Jets and Quebec Nordiques disappear. I remember when Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic started their careers at Quebec...and the year Eric Lindros decided he wasn't going to play in Quebec if he got drafted....putz.

I like the NHL just like it is right now. It's not suppose to be the WWF. You can be the toughest guy in the world but if you can't skate or shoot I would never want you on my line.

The only big game changes I would like to see is to somehow make for more 4 on 4 play. To me that's when it's the best to watch. I would also open up the area behind the net a bit, clone Gump Worsley and lower the ticket prices!

Here's some more important hockey quotes:

Bobby Clarke, on signing Kjell Samuelsson: "There's no reason why a player is done at 33, 34. They train better, they eat better, they drink better. This isn't the old days when everybody sat around and drank beer."

Brett Hull: "I'm not dumb enough to be a goalie."

Gordie Howe: "American professional athletes are bilingual; they speak English and profanity."

Steve Rushin: "By the age of 18, the average American has witnessed 200,000 acts of violence on television, most of them occurring during Game 1 of the NHL playoff series."

Slaphost: : "Dave's a Killer - Dave's a Maniac - Dave's a mess.

ROFLMAO

Reminds me of the old NY Islander days when Billy Smith was still playing.

We (Flyers)won 2, 73 and 74. Sorry again.

As for he Flames yeah they only won it the once but it doesn't bother me. I never liked them anyways. I perfer watching the Oilers as I grew up closer to the Edmonton. So say what you want about them, its water off my back.

And yes Hextall was great, those were the good ole days. Old time hockey.

Go Flyers (well in 3 months anyways)

LOL... saw in your profile that you were from Calgary so was trying to stir shit up by referring to the Flames cup run but obviously didn't work. :-)

But yea, I liked hockey more back then. The rivalries the Oilers had with the Islanders and Flyers was entertaining.

I like to stir up shit too, I have perfected that trade. I like to get under everyone skin when it comes to the sports teams but it has been hard to do in regards to the Flames. What is it 7 years and counting for making it to the playoffs. Hehehe

The makers of French's Mustard made the following recent statement: "We at the French's Company wish to put an end to statements that our product is manufactured in France. There is no relationship, nor has there ever been a relationship, between our mustard and the country of France. Indeed, our mustard is manufactured in Rochester, NY. The only thing we have in common is that we are both yellow".

Why wouldn't the Statue of Liberty work in France? Because she has only one arm raised.
