Is there any theft prevention methods for lights (hella 4000's). Is there such a thing as a lock?
What about a locking lug nut on the end?

Any tips would be appreciated.

Blake
PIAA makes a locking end bolt thinga-ma-jig for thier lights.

I bet the diameter of the bolts are close, and if not, just rab it up like thiers

I allways thought if enough bolt is sticking out, just drill a hole through the shaft and stick a small lock on it, or something.

THEFT deterents would prolyl piss the thieves off and they would vandalize em. just hpoe they steal em and try to get some HID's for a replacement. yes fraud is wrong but you are paying for it.

Got a MIG Welder?

Tack the nuts on the bolts.

It'll slow em down...

Ive seen lock nuts similar to those to stop your wheels being pinched on lights. Don't know what brand they were but shouldn't be too hard to get from Auto Accessory store.
To be cruel though you could always try a razor blade between the nut and washer, wont stop em from getting pinched, but its got to hurt doing it.

Some light covers from a cheaper set of lights might be the best way to go with this, they are gonna get them no matter what if they really want them so spend the energy making them NOT want them.

That wouldn't work at all Carter. Smiley face KC covers on my 4000s would only make them more attractive to the thieving element.

Maybe you could rig one of those shot shell things so when they pull on the lights the shot shell fires at the groin area. Even HID's would not be worth a pound of fleash.

It puts the lotion on its body. :-)

LOL, that is true jack... Most low lifes probablly don't even realize Hellas are good lights maybe the stock covers alone would do the job :-)

Drill a 1/8" hole in the back of each housing, making certain not to hit the reflector, pass some stainless braided rope through it, and crimp it with a Nicopress sleeve. The other end loops to the bumper or the top light tabs on an ARB and Nicopress it. It will be unlikely to walk away, and you'll enjoy the challenge of getting it off with a pair of $12 Home Depot side cutters two years from now.

If you do cut the cable with $12 Home Depot side cutters two years from now, be certain to buy about four of them - they're only good for about one cut before buying the farm.

If you rigged that shotgun deal the theif could sue you.

My business law teacher told me that a woman had an old house that she didn't live in, and vandals broke in all the time. She rigged up a shotgun "booby" trap so when you opened a door to a room it would take your legs off. Well it took some vandal's legs off and he sued her for a shat load of cash.

But wouldn't you love to see the guy laying on the road who tried to steal your lights.

Hella 4000's - $300.00
12 guage shotgun - $300.00
Nuts, bolts, rigging material - $40.00
Mangled Thief in the road who tried to steal your Hella's even though his mommy probably taught him better - PRICELESS
