Sounds better, makes you feel like you've done somethig to improve performance, more air = more fine particles where you don't need them not to mention the filter oil. get a good paper filter. Don

Brian -
the answer to your first question is no.

Are you talking about air filtyers or oil filters? If air then I would agree with the above statements. If oil I would say they are worth the extra money

Watson,
Did you have problems with the K&N filter? I am currently running one in my 95 Disco, should I pull it out and stick with the regular paper filters. I have noticed an slight increase in HP, not much but its noticeable.

Tony,

the longest I've run a K&N air filter was in the Disco. I've noticed the fine dust deposits in the airbox past the filter that were beyond my tolerance, and ... in the heap it went.

Not that I was a great believer in K&N horsepower claims; I was sold on the idea that it wouldn't let water past it. But then, after two years in SoCal, I haven't seen water even bumper deep, but plenty of dust. Also, at the time, K&N was the only available air filter for the Disco in the parts stores.

The horsepower increase is so slight that I would be certain that on a standard Disco you wouldn't notice it, nor would it improve noticeably your fuel economy.

Yeah, fuel economy is the same, I've check the past couple of fill ups still at around 14 mpg. Peter, I notice the fine dust particles even with my stock paper filter, the housing for the filter in my opinion is not the best design ever, even before I had installed the K&N filter I noticed that there was a lot of fine dust going to my engine??? Did you notice any mild or major problems for using the K&N filter, because if you did then its comming out, I have enought problems with my car as it is, I don't want to add any more.
