I am looking if anyone has a picture of a disco series I with front JATE rings? I can't seem to find one. Anyone know?

Marcel

Not sure if this is Disco I or II but it shouldn't be much different...

Ok well let me just say that I have a AB front skid plate. So I think that I will have to undo the plate to get the ring in. Am I correct?

One of these should fit that extra hole on the front passenger side frame rail on my DI, right? I've heard before that these are a really tight fit and you need to split them with a high lift. I dont have a high lift.
Thanks,
Dan

the hole where the little loopy thing comes out? Because I think if i put one of them on the top bolt it will bend my bumper if i use it for recovery

I dont have the "little loopy thing." I'm refering to the mounting point welded on the frame rail. I beleive that this is what the power steering mounts to in right hand drive cars? It looks plenty solid to be used for recovery if a jate ring will fit on there.

There is no hole where you are talking about. Man a picture would help with what you are talking about.

Yes, a JATE will fit in the RHD steering mount hole. If you look on the drivers side you'll see the panhard rod bracket - in the same position on the passenger side you'll see the equivalent hole used for the transit loop - it's a tube welded to the frame. A JATE will fit that hole.

BTW, the OKOffroad pic. is the rear of my Classic :-)

Look a little farther back on the passenger side frame rail. It is a ways back from the front bumper welded to the under side of frame.

You can also do what Jeremy did - nice job BTW. However, the additional thickness of the skid plate brackets and the frame combined may be too much for the JATE. The opening is about 4-3/8".

Chris, is this the skid?:

ABSkid

If so, I don't think you could get JATEs on with hacking the skid, even if they would go around the frame and skid brackets.

make that 'withOUT hacking the skid'

The Wolf Defenders have notches cut out of the skid to expose the JATEs, like these:

Unless you have quick and easy access to the JATE ring, it's not much help for recovery.

I think with the Bearmach you'd have the same issues. Take a close look and see if you can figure out a how the JATEs would fit around the skid. If you really want JATEs and to keep the skid, you'd have to take of the skid, install the JATEs like Jeremy did above, and then cut the skid to fit around the JATEs.

Steve - I have the same skid plate as the link Chris provided above and am wondering the same thing about the JATE rings. You have any idea on that? The only thing is that I do have a LR brush guard.

Alan AB makes a skidplate for people who have a brush guard. The rings might fit if you get that one. I am not sure but it looks like they would.

Chris - There's a gap between the bracket that mounts the skid plate to the frame and the frame itself but not sure if it's wide enough to accomodate the ring. Guess I'll just have to buy the rings and try it.
