While looking around for things to explain my new squeek (see "fan clutch" thread) I noticed what seemed to be oil leaking from the front of the block, now pardon my ignorance here, but it was from where the wheel that drives the serpentine belt exits the block. Does anyone have any general information on this situation? I have never been low on oil, but I don't know how old this is.
Thanks,
Daniel

Front main seal????
You sure it is motor oil? My power steering hose leaks and keeps the whole motor well lubed.

Front main seal leaks are pretty common, I see them often. Mine will have a line of oil that leads directly from the crank and gets thrown around pretty badly. The manuals say the seal can be replaced with the block in the truck, although it looks pretty tight for a harmonic dampener puller to me.

Bill:replace the clamps and maybe your PS leaks will slow.

Peace,
Paul

The dampener just slides off when you undo the bolt in the middle, it is real tight though 200ftlb torgue. I have seen one break the bolt and every thing fell off.
