Just a quick general question. Will the brake rotors ( front ) from a RR Classic fit a '98 Disco?? I know a lot of parts interchange, just wasn't sure about the rotors.... Thanks,Mike |

Probably not. The brake rotors on the Rangies were vented and much wider than those on a Disco. You'd have to swap the calipers too, and even then, the Rangies used a different ABS setup. Peace, Paul |

Paul, thanks for the answer. Somehow I knew you would be the one responding. You seem to be the d-web technical expert. That is ok that they are wider, I expected that because of the internal venting which is what I am looking for. I'm going to machine some spacers for the calipers and do away with abs all together. I just want a different brand of rotor than stock LR, and all aftermarket mfg spec by vehicle. So they should fit on the axle w/o issues except the points that you stated, right? Mike |

Mike: Wow, I hope I don't mislead you after that glowing response. They should fit the hubs without problems. |

I have D90 rotors (vented like RR) on our Disco but I'm using D90 Calipers which have bigger piston as well as pads... This increases the swept area of the rotor per rev of the tire and improves braking quite a bit over stock BUT the diameter of the rotor is the same if I recall. So just putting on the vented rotors probably will not improve performance until you reach the point that old rotors would have gotten hot and started to fade then the vented rotors with more mass and cooling will help... |

Mike, I have bought a kit from the UK which contains seals and spacers which are to be placed between your Disco's caliper halves. I bought drilled and slotted Range Rovers (91-95) from Great Basin Rovers in SL, Utah. It is do-able for the mechanically inclined. I do no feel that my brakes are more effective with shorter distances. I added this to have greater heat disapation. I have overheated my brakes to the point of ineffectiveness on two occasions, but not once since this addition even while towing an early Bronco 1000 miles to Colorado. Let me know if you would like the name of this UK company. Stephen |

Hey Keith, did you have to do anything special to get the d90 calipers to bolt up? or do the mounting holes match up with the disco's? Stephen, I have been looking at a couple of those places in the UK as well. what was the quality of the kit you bought? thanks guys, Mike |
