I've got a 97 Disco and I've got a question about the PCV on my 4.0L engine. The hose going from the right valve cover to the 4.0 plentum is sucked in extremely bad right where it connects to the plentum. I removed the hose with the engine running and of coarse the idle went down and got rough. I blew through the hose and found a broken off piece of plastic from the valve cover side. The nipple or whatever that is in the valve cover just the tip broke off and was stuck in the hose. What do I need to do to fix the hose from just sucking itself in and what is that part located on the valve cover which broke off inside the hose?

Sincerely,

Best4x4

I'd just replace the hose; a new one should be sturdier and should resist collapsing but if the new one also shows to be collapsing, it would be reasonable to assume that your PCV valve is so clogged up that no air can pass through it and will need to be replaced.
Whatever little piece broke off isn't going to effect anything, I wouldn't worry about it.

is it normal for the end going to the plentum chamber to be almost melted on?

Thanks for the quick response Jim. I'll get a new hose and if it shows signs of sucking in I'll replace the PCV valve.

Sincerely,
