I'm thinking of adding a truetrac to the front of my D2 and just pulling each half-shaft out just enough to drop the third member and leaving the oil seal inplace. I'm I asking for trouble by not pulling the whole axle and replacing the seal. The D2 has 20k on it.

I watched the diff shop put in my front TT (2001 Disco) and there seemed no point in pulling halfshafts all the way out and replacing seals, but then my D2 had only 12k miles.

Thanks guys. When I installed the rear, I just pulled the axles out about 6 inches, the O-rings looked good so I left them inplace. I figured as long as I didn't unseat the seal it should be fine.
