I did a search and I haven't come up with anything quite like this. My problem just began about4 months ago. The brake pedal feels like the brakes need bled. However, when I went to bleed them (engine off) the pedal felt rock solid. The pedal only goes soft with the engine running. This kinda leads me to believe that it's a vacuum or electrical problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks- Brent |

Sound like your master cylinder is the problem. Mark |

Why would the pedal feel great with the engine off but feel like a sponge with it running. It's not consistent either; sometimes it is worse than others. I thought this may be an issue with the ABS system so I uplugged a fuse or two but there was no change. Any ideas? |

Hi Brent, I have a 97 Disco (not sure what year yours is) and I have the same problem. I was about to bleed the brakes a few weeks ago but between work related trips adn all this rain, I haven't got arround to doing it. Not sure if it's air in the system or the Master cylinder. If you find out anything, let us all know (I'll do likewise. Thanks! |
