I just put a arb winch bumper on my 96 Disco it still has stock springs. Should I be thinking of changing springs before I buy a winch to put in the big hole in the bumper, or can I get by with the stock spings for now? |

Your Disco is not going to fall apart or self destruct if you don't put on bigger springs if that is what you asking. Your bumper will hang lower and you will have a worse approach angle than before. You will also have a greater chance of bottoming out your springs and your handling will definately suffer. None of these things are desirable, but then again, they aren't fatal either. Thanks, Mike B. * The usual disclaimers apply, YMMV, etc. |

I wasnt worried so much about the self destruction. I figured that there would be some drawbacks to keeping the stock springs, I was mainly wondering just how bad they would be. |

i really do think you need new spring the front end will tend to drop some with the additional weight. if your just looking for better springs get some OME HD. check out /link{roversnorth.com,rovers north} they have alot of good springs if your not looking to put much of a lift on. |

as you probably are notice you are saggin pretty good in the front just from old springs and ARB, you throw that winch in and it's really going to go down. definetly get the springs on before the winch. i'd go with www.expeditionexchange.com becasue thier OME springs are of equal height, if you go from RN or AB you get them "handed" and the car will lean to one side slightly. rd |

I had the same problem and got the 1" springs from Rovertym. I am now a tad above stock on lift and the ride is better. The surprize was that when i removed the stock springs they had already sagged, one side was about an inch shorter (99 S1 with about 55k miles). Dwight |
